French IMPERSONAL VERBS // French conjugation Course // Lesson 18
An impersonal verb is a verb that doesn’t refer to anyone but is used to talk about general subjects or the weather. Il pleut - Il fait bon - Il neige - etc.
They are all conjugated with IL or ÇA / C’. They can be used in every tense but today we are going to focus on the present tense.

When I was noting down common verb conjugations from a website in the past, I got confused when falloir only had 'il faut' and thought the person probably forgot to fill it out LOL. It makes sense now

Thank you for another great lesson. 🙏 question, do we never conjugate falloir with je tu nous vous ils elles? Is it only used with il? Or does it depend on context?
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane

Falloir is only with IL, always 😉 But the second part of the sentence can have any pronouns. Il faut que nous parlions = We have to talk We will see more about it with the infinitive and the subjunctive
Very interesting video, thank you miss Dylane c:

Merci Daniel 🤩
Merci beaucoup Madame ! But I have a small question. When verbs like pleuvoir or falloir are used in a figurative sense like the insults rained down on him, can the 3rd person singular il /Elle/on and 3rd person plurals Ils/elles be used?

What do you mean in a figurative sense? Do you have an example?

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane In the word reference conjugator for pleuvoir There is a note that says "When used in a figurative sense , pleuvoir is not an impersonal verb. It is however used only in the 3rd person (singular and plural) And in the traduction anglais Of pleuvoir. It says figuré (arriver en quantité)" Come thick and fast ". The example sentence is "Bad news keeps coming thick and fast" Oh and I owe you an apology for the confusion, My question is only related to pleuvoir, but I used verbs like pleuvoir or falloir to mean impersonal verbs.
Il y a un chevreuil dans le jardin Can be used for the last sentence you taught Ma'am Dylane.

"Le chevreuil" is a much smaller animal than the "cerf". I believe it can be 5 times smaller and it has a tail. How cute!
Hey I was doing EX: 1:44 and I wrote, "Au printemps il semble toujours plus chaud", but in the answer keys it's written, "il fait" It's hard to tell which one is right or incorrect.
