As an Italian born and raised in France, I can relate. In fact, I do not feel THAT Italian, and will always root for the BLUE white and red. Yet, don’t come criticizing Italy in front of me, and when I’m going to visit my family on the peninsula, I understand that I am indeed Italian. So yeah, not too sure what I am.

@@jetaddicted I sympathize a lot with the way that you feel. I remember opening up about feeling more American that Mexican to some of my Mexican family and they became angry at me. They accused me of being ashamed of my heritage and wanting to be more "White", whatever that means. I am not ashamed of my heritage and I am actually very prideful of it, but whenever I go to Mexico, there is always that "disconnect". I try very hard to talk to my cousins and people of my age group but I simply missed out on the experience of actually growing up there which really does isolate you. With that being said, I have come to the realization that I actually do not have to pick a side. No one is pointing a gun to our heads forcing us to choose what nationality we feel most connected to. Us the children of immigrants, mixed marriages, and any other circumstance that has placed them in the middle of two worlds have a beautiful gift that majority of the world will never experience. Do not be sad because you are unsure of who you are, be glad that you are a child of the world!

As a French person, the funniest part of the video was trying to guess what the actual words Armand was teaching them were from the mangled versions Josh and Ollie were saying :) No one has said "sacrebleu" out loud since 1900 or thereabout, but actually, like many old curse words, "bleu" (meaning blue) was used to replace "Dieu" (God) as it was considered blasphemy to invoke the name of the Lord. So the original, sacrilegeous, version would be "sacré Dieu" (good God, more or less), which no one would say because for a long time France was a deeply catholic country, especially in rural areas, people would instead use "sacrebleu" instead. But no one living ever uses it, though I can't speak for ghosts or the occasional overdramatic ironic theater or history student. A similar case would be "morbleu", which used to be "mordieu", or "god's death". Thank you Armand for preventively telling people "à jolie vite" is not actual French, I'm sure you've spared lots of us heart attacks :) And yes, travelers to France should definitely branch out from Paris, there are so many amazing places to see. Brittany is beautiful, would love to see you guys visit!

Blue was the colors of royalty, since they were supposed to be of divine descent as well. Thus, "sacré bleu" was supposed to be about royal blood in general. This is where "palsambleu" comes from as well. It means "Par le sang bleu" "By the blue blood" which would be noble blood.

Same here. I’m Korean-American, born and raised in the US for half of my childhood. Then I moved to Korea and I’ve been living here since. Especially after moving to Korea, I’ve never felt Korean enough to be fully Korean but again not American enough to be fully American. Spent most of my childhood with a crippling identity crisis haha

Oh the sacrilege😂 so funny Ollie Seriously breaking the cheese with your fingers 🤯😱I’m Parisian and living in London most my adult life , our daughter is about same age as Armand born in London but it’s funny I could tell Armand was French asa when first on video our daughter sounds more British and her French sounds with English accent which Armand doesn’t have . She s at uni in Geneva 🇨🇭 we shall see how her accent evolves 😅when she comes back in London. A little trip to Bretagne with Armand going down the local week end market would be lots of fun trying “regional delicacies” We ve discovered so much of Korean culture through your 2 channels I want to say thank you! At that stage it is only a dream but we hope to make it someday! In the meantime all the best, I think we gonna have to go to try this mince pie hot crumble in our fav uk Borough Market looks 😋 delish thx for the tip Sabrina 🇫🇷🇬🇧

i love how armand fully turns to look at the person he's talking to/who is talking. its so endearing
It’s pretty obvious that Armand is more drawn to Ollie, while talking, he’s mostly always facing him. And I think that is because Ollie and Max are pretty similar personality and vibe wise, so Armand might’ve found that familiarity comforting. Just an observation and I’m not saying he dislikes Josh!! 😁

I think that might be because on their trip josh likely was responsible for wrangling peopel and doing the serious explinations of stuff ect where as ollie is normally in the background or able to just be the funny guy who's sort of hanging around because more of his work happens when they're not filming in terms of korean englishman videos. It's possible josh feels more like a teacher in that case.

I have actually found this really useful especially the timing, as I have just started teaching my son French but it is 30 years since I last used it! It has reassured me that my accent is actually still reasonable (although my grammar possibly is not lol). Hope Armand is enjoying his first term of University. If he ever needs to make some extra money doing online conversational French, I would love him to teach my 10 year old son, as he is such a good role model.

French Canadian here! Sacré bleu (or sacrebleu; sacred god) is an old Quebec term, similar to 'good heavens!' -- many terms related to the church are common profanities in Quebec, and they're called the Sacres (to consecrate). The MOST common day-to-day terms used here (in my family, at least) are Câlice (the chalice), Criss (christ), Esti (the host), Tabarkak (the tabernacle), Ciboire (ciborium), and Sacrement (also sacrement lol). Using them in France is hilarious 'cause people just think you're a religious nut... 😅

I used to see sacré bleu in old french books I read. So, sacré bleu was used in the past but not anymore. Since it used to be used by the french, the English in the past must have heard it and kept it in the their beliefs of how french people spoke. That caricature of the frenchman must have persisted today. Like you said, Sacré bleu is sacred god. But bleu here is a replacement for the word dieu (god in french), since saying the word god in that way is considered a blasphemy for Christians. So dieu was replaced by bleu cause it rhymes. It's like saying gosh darn it instead of god damn it. I guess it's not used anymore by the french, cause the french aren't heavily as religious as before.
the fact that armand has to experience what josh has to go through with teaching languages already earns my respect.
OMG we need Armand back with a whole course on these etiquette rules. Just as simple as the ones as cutting cheese. It's fun learning with the three of you. I def. vote for a whole series of this and more.

I noticed it too, but my guess is it's a combination of editing (you can see lots of cuts when you watch it and look for it, so my best guess is it's not that he's just sitting there nonstop staring at ollie but that maybe him constantly flipping back and forth to both was cut down for time issues) and the fact that Ollie is his student and does a lot of the talking. I mean he came prepared with a list etc lol

Honestly, I think t's because there was so much more to correct from Ollie than from Josh.
I love how Armand looks at the chesse while Ollie is ripping it with his hand or saying "do not compare Greggs to a French bakery". I had the exact same reaction while watching the video and I said the same thing to my British friends once. This is really French 😂
I love how Armand does the very French thing of turning his back to Josh to speak to Ollie. In the UK we are taught to speak to one guest for the starter, then switch at the main course to the person on the other side.
