French farmers are covering crops with solar panels to produce food and energy at the same time
In the midst of the energy crisis gripping France, this farmer is using his land in innovative ways to produce electricity.

Some shade is good for plants. If you visit a nursery in a sunny climate they will have shade cloth to protect the plants.
Smart Energy and food.

this is amazing work
This is amazing
Very innovating.
Wow👏🤞🏻
In November 2018 France was ranked "World's most food sustainable country": "France's aggressive measures to tackle food waste, promote healthy lifestyles and adopt eco-farming techniques helped it top a ranking of nations,.. The Netherlands, Canada, Finland and Japan rounded out the top fives, in an index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which assesses their food sustainability.. The US and Britain failed to make the top 20 of 67 nations that were graded on food waste, sustainable agriculture, and health and nutrition.. "France has been in the vanguard of policies and measures to reduce such losses.. France is showing that "improvements in agricultural performance should not come at the expense of environmental and social conditions," said Martin Koehring, the index's author.. Britain had high greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and it also scored poorly on water management, Koehring said. .. France also topped the index last year."
This should have great potential if cost effective! Brilliant thinking.

Well done to those farmers for becoming self sufficient away from fossil fuels 👍
Yes, yes, yes! More!!!! Absolutely brilliant tech 👍
How about super strong winds we are facing theese years. IS this construction strog enough to withstand winds over 100km/h?
anyone knows who does make this tracking system ? It's only made from wires ....
💖
Genius
They can use the solar generated electricity to charge electric farm equipment.
It would be better for the big parking lots.
Man i do love me some toxic particles on me oat meal in the morning!
Great news ! The story under the video mentions the company , TSE Energy, but their web page is only in French and has no email or contact , where is the logic in that in case that a farmer in Europe or around the World wants to know more ? Europe , Europe, Europe, still in the 1980's ?

It is stupid of you to assume that there is only one company in all of Europe that does this kind of thing. Try googling. Good God, how old are you 90?

Correct, French is the language used in France, although many people around the world also speak French as a second or third language.
I want to see this spread all over the Union. Dual use agricultural land.

It's certainly not impossible for field crops to catch fire. Rare, but not impossible. And the end of the growing season, when most grain/pulse crops dry. Fortunately, the panels would probably not sustain any/much damage, given how rapidly a field of grain would burn out.

@@jacobhoekstra340 I doubt a fire from a grain field would last long enough or be hot enough to do significant damage. It's not like burning wood, as an example, much less fuel load.
Blocking sunlight from crops, I'm sure that will go well
@maszlagma
Жыл бұрын
The sun rays change position over the course of a day thus the shadow also moves with it not staying in one spot. This could be a game changer combined with droughts similar what Europe has experienced this summer as blocking out direct sunlight somewhat alleviates evaporation. Only major drawback that I see is initial cost.
@A_Takacs
Жыл бұрын
@@maszlagma Yes the sun will shine from multiple directions, that means that the solar panels will inevitably block some sunlight from the crops. That will negatively impact the quality of produce, given that they need as much sunlight as they can get.

Too much sunlight isnt good, those plants can protect the plants against drought. Summers are getting hotter and farmers harvest less
@A_Takacs
Жыл бұрын
@@domi1351 Most crops need a lot of sunlight to grow properly, but quantity is not all. The angle at which the light hits the plants also matters quite a lot. The same goes for the solar panels. There's just simply not enough quality sunlight for it to be enough for the crops and also generate enough energy for the investment to be worth it.
