Wow! Where do I start? This is one of the things that grabs me about dolls and most people just don't get it. The potato said it all. As a history teacher, I love the history these dolls capture for us. The very first one, the Jumeau exhibition doll was exquisite. She stole the show in my opinion. A face nearly beyond comparison. But then Mathilde Bonaparte! Wow! Her cousin, Empress Eugenie quite stunning. They are all breathtaking in their way. I mean their hair, the color captured in the eyes, the gowns 😯 My word! I felt like I was in the 1870s. This was a nice ending to a very interesting doll convention.

Forgot, I have a question. Did the Antoine Rochard dolls always use those Stanhope jewels?

my hobby is doll collecting, I do not have a collection as wonderful as you do at the Grovian Doll Museum, but love that you share it with us, in virtual, rather than reality, as I do not think I would ever get to the USA, I am in the UK and at some point will head back to Aus, thankyou again for sharing xxx

I could listening to you all day! Such lovely presentation with no waffle like so many you tube channels. You’re both so incredibly knowledgable and interesting and the collections second to none!! I have loved antique china dolls for well over forty years since I was a teen, costs back then were prohibitive but a change in fashion and the internet bringing more dolls to the market means I can now make my dreams come true, alas, not in your league of perfection but never the less loved and kept for posterity. Being able to see your collection and Rachel’s visits is such joy from across the Atlantic. Thank you and stay safe x 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

Thank you Michael and David and Rachel for this video. French Fashion dolls are starting to grow on me, not sure if that is a good thing... Grins... I have learned so much, but then the doll uncles always pack so much into so short a time that one wishes it lasted forever.

Stunning dolls, absolutely beautiful. I visit America ever so often and see you only allow admission to the museum based on group events. Do the groups need a minimum number, I know myself and my friend would be beyond thrilled to see your collection if visiting that area of America at the time.

Beautiful dolls , I know one thing as a seamstress the smaller the doll the more difficult it is to make the costumes. I wish I would have started when I was younger .I collect half dolls and re costume them . I keep originals as they are but the ones with out I so enjoy making costumes. Where most doll dressed in muted colors or were there bright colors also? Enjoyed your videos .

Hello MIchael, Franco-Prussian War lasted from July 1870 till January1871. Emil Jumeau married Ernestine-Stephanie in 1874. So how he could give his wife a potato during the wartime when she was not his wife yet!
