hey matty, did this today but can`t work out where you went @22.45,i couldn`t find an obvious track so went through the gate and picked the route up again halfway down the grassy descent. cracking ride though, just a pity the return is along the the swale trail. i was thinking of of going up to harkerside but the battery had other ideas!!

Hi Paul, I wouldn't worry as long you got to do the electric gate descent? That's the highlight. Swale trail can be a bit of a chore, but it's steady riding to finish a ride off. Looked a nice day for it today mate?

Don't mention electric gate, you've never seen two grown men turn into total idiots trying to open the gate,we pressed everything that looked like a button on the gate but ended up going through the little wicket gate , then we saw the button on the post🤣🤣🤣

@@paulatack haha 😄 you won't be the first to that Paul. It needs a big neon sign pointing out where it is 😂

Ive done a similar version of this bit I was trying to figure out the bit where you go through the gate at the top of Fremington Edge and follow the wall along the left until you get to the gate where you start The Descent into the old lead mines. I just can't remember that section being that long?

I think we've added a bit extra on this ride. We tend to follow a different way round to the top of that descent now, by following the stone track straight on from the gate instead of left

Is that descent after the first gate, before second one from the edge itself? I followed the byway yesterday, quite boring bit to be fair. Wish I’d gone across the edge

Yeah it's the old ardrock section. I think it's unrideable now

Thanks man, here's a link to the strava page where you can download the gpx: strava.app.link/jQxbVWI3n5 Be careful though, as some of this ride has been washed out by storms that hit last year. There are probably better routes to follow than this one

Is this basically some of Ard Rock ? Love to do it without getting told off by land owners

The jumpy section is part of the old Ard Rock and is rather washed out now, almost unrideable. I wouldn't recommend it. However, the rest of this ride is mostly bridelway. The descent thro the Lead Mine is as good as anything and perfectly legal right of way

@@RockGullyMTB much obliged thanks, visited Dales bike centre a couple of times and asked for a route to mimic legal rights of way much like Ard Rock but they were tight lipped

@@guyd1974 yeah I think a lot of the Ard Rock stuff is in private land. They do have a bunch of routes on their website that you can download, some of which will be similar to Ard Rock. Also, my 2nd to last Dales route was a good one and all legal right of way. The Pipeline descent on it is brilliant
