I just saw on "Explore New England" You Tube channel about your freighter rendezvous on Moosehead Lake. I never heard of a Maine Freighter or this style of canoe, It got me so intrigued, I started researching this style of canoe and dang, it is very rare to find. I only saw 1 place that builds them in Maine and nothing found on the used market. I guess more will be possibly on the market come spring. I would like to be able to go out on bigger waters fishing by myself if my sons cannot make it. Issue is, I'm a BIG person, hence my channels Title. When I sit in our current canoe, I need a passenger because the nose comes up way to high. I figure if I go to a much longer and beamer canoe, I can go solo on the Western Lakes in ME. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!!

@NorthernFreighterCanoe ... I too, want a freighter canoe.. Got this crazy ideal to build it myself.. have .. gobs of 1" x1" pine. . 20 foot long. Glue and some copper ring nails.. Build my own......
