Freezing Mangos- 2 Ways!

One of the best ways to preserve fresh Florida mangos for the off-season is to freeze them! In this video, learn how cut up and prepare mangos for freezing two ways. One way produces individual slices that are great for smoothies or snacking. Another faster way is to freeze mangos in their own juices, which can be used for fruit leathers, ice cream and more!

Thank you so much!! My neighbor has a mango tree and gives me buckets of mangos every spring. I love them but have always wasted many in the past. Thanks for showing me how to freeze.

I don't have room for big sheets to freeze individual pieces, but we put individual servings in snack bags, put those into a big freezer bag and freeze that way. If you want a smoothy, just pull out one snack bag and blend.

I watch the channel regularly for the 'growing' perspective, but this is the first kitchen perspective video that I have come across, will search out more! I was looking for videos on canning mangoes when this video appeared. I have frozen 'dry slices' of mango, but never with the juice - so that is on the to do list. You made excellent work of preparing that mango, I made a real mess with mine, went through half a kitchen roll - the juice was running off the counters. I was fortunate to get boxes of Osteen variety via a crowd farming project, the mangoes were superb, some about 10" in length. I made a number of patisserie type recipes with the mangoes, but aim to buy more this year and add to the range. I have bought an ice-cream maker (with compressor) and aim to make mango ice cream/ sorbet. I also plan to try canning mangoes (given that I have already used considerable freezer space) and making some mango curd, which I can then add to ice cream or mousses, as I do with citrus. Yes, I love mangoes - I even have young mango trees, despite living in South Wales, UK. Mangoes are addictive! Thank you for all your helpful advice! Best wishes, Vox!

I’ve grown six mango trees and when they are ready to be picked I peel them using a potato peeler. This method saves me more of the meat of my mangos with no waste. I then slice the mango in a sort of cross hatched pattern then cut along the seed so that I end up with smaller pieces. I then place the pieces in sugared water. After they soak between the rest of the mangos I slice I use a spoon that allows the sugared water to drain. Then into a zip lock bag with about six tablespoons of my syrup water. My daughter comes to visit me in Mexico any where between 4-6 times a year and we always have fresh frozen mangos to enjoy. These frozen mangos last a year at least and always taste as fresh as when I plucked them from my trees

Try covering 4or 5 Mango seeds (w/remaining flesh left attached) w/water. GENTLE boil till tasting has a strong mango flavor. Add choice of sweeter to taste - I like honey. Makes the BEST JUICE ever great too for smoothies. ❤YUM❤️

can i just peel them and freeze??? i have sooo many... this way i take 1 bag out of freezer that has 4 or five and i can eat one or two per day... i prefer just putting one on a plate and cutting it up and eating it that way... taste to me is not so important, just the nutrition they have.... I see a lot of wasted fruit using your method...not knocking it . maybe i will do some like that...thanks
