Someone had a question about freeze branding a dog and how long to hold the brand on. I don't see the post now?! Lot's of folks freeze brand their cattle or hunting dogs. This is due to the dogs collars breaking or tags of ownership falling off when the dog gets lost. When somebody finds the dog and see's the brand they know to go on line and look up the brand. This saves a trip to the local vet to read a chip. When freeze branding a dog the same steps are followed as in the video. Clean and clipped ribs will need 25-35 seconds, thin ears will need about 35 seconds and around 45 seconds for thick ears when branding.

Howdy, after applying the freeze brand, you can ride the horse the same day. Here at the ranch we ride them a couple of hours after the brand has been applied. With the cavalry troop at Fort Huachuca we ride them the next day. I hope this helps you out. That is a great question. Wish I would have thought of putting that information in the video.
