Very nice. I'm waiting on a couple more things then build time. Model Sounds Inc sound system, scale pilot, and have the afterburners to install.

I definitely want to try a couple of your ideas. I was definitely pleased also with the setup. I didn't really notice any pitch down issue on mine but I'm going to try a little reflex anyway. I've changed my servo but still have not tested them. I have not gotten around to doing the gear door mod yet. But I'm definitely interested in trying the ducting mods for sure! I was considering also painting mine but Callie is currently MIA. Typically I'm focusing more on that modification of a difference scheme versus any performance modifications.

To get out of that high-alpha situation, it also helps to release the elevator - that tends to lower the nose, too. Cutting throttle without account for elevator puts you in a situation of reducing your airspeed more than just simply releasing elevator and recovering with less lost of altitude, too.

Im tried everuthing to get the nose down. But with full power nothing worked. Im talking about flying it at a aoa using full up and holding enough power to keep it moving forward in level flight. At one point the speed dropped enough the the back emd sank amd i applied full power...which led to the situation i spoke of. After i recovered...wejt up amd played with it...put it in same situation..amd only thing to fix it was to cut power to get the nose down.

hi Brent, can you help me find plans and build manual for the JHH F9F Cougar? I got one that was built but the fuel tanks were gone. I want to know where they go. it has a Turbax II with a Cut Down 9 blade Ramtec rotor on it. thanks buddy. Gary

I moved the front battery up front and fabricated a mount for the receiver and stuff.

I am still waiting for mine to arrive. With the trouble pilots have been having with the elevator servos is it possible to move the servos further out and make a straiter run to the elevator horn. seems to be plenty of room for it. By the way, a very good video well explained really enjoyed your commentary.

Could I just ask how the wiring is on this regarding the esc to lipo and esc throttle cables to RX? Is there basically 1 esc per motor connected directly to the lipo? And does each esc throttle cable plug into the blue box and then 1 throttle cable to the RX? I ask as I'm going to change to Avian ESCs and hoping to get telemetry.

Very good point in 4:30min of video, the real one has ailerons 5deg up.

those batteries are the best im my opinion i run 5,000mah but wear did you find those bigger ones

Great Video. Do you use the same “C rating” on both batteries for every flight? I have a lot of batteries but a few with the same C rating discharge.

No i use the same style packs. Doesnt mean you "have" to...youll just get slightly different power output from each fan. Worth a shot though as lobg as they were similar mah

I did not know about that on the servo i put it wear you put it on the most inner hole with 85 percent throw omg i almost didnt recover on a dive so next flight i did 100 percent throw its prefect

@@octane2099 how many c? Im running rparing top 6250 35c and they are pretty light. I actually hoged out my hatch so i could get the front one farther back. Its almost against the blue box. Homestly i might add some tail weight

@@hechtspeed I see im running the same brand but 5,500mah 45c they dnt even warm up they stay nice and cool 3:30 min and battery's are at 55 %

@@octane2099 thats awesome. I fly a solod 5 mim with about 15% left over. But normally only put about 4000 back in

those 35c rating battery's dnt get hot or puff? i recently switched over to top roaring came from power hobby very happy with them how does that plane handle pretty good?

Yes 6v is fine. Ive run 2s life packs on freewing jets a ton. Thats 6.5v under load

Good info, thanks. I have 12 flights on mine with the afterburners and I am liking it a lot. This plane does not fly heavy like my big HSD jets. Elevator servo connection is on inside hole like yours. I don't understand why guys put them in the outer holes and then turn down the throws to 40-50%. Just stupid!!

@@scottelm3496 For the Mig-29 I would suggest the factory recommended throws. I do run about 25% expo on the ailerons and rudder on most of my jets because I don't use dual rates. Most my jets have 15-20% expo on the elevator as well. Very predictable smooth flying plane. I have 58 flights on it now. I don't fly it as often as my other smaller planes but only because it goes through batteries two at a time. Still enjoying it though...

Uhhh....depends. not for real long. Better than some scale jets maybe but certainly not as well as a sport jet

@@mizz9841 the mig will fly pretty slow. Maybe i missunderstood what you were asking. It doesnt glide that great but it will cruize at a pretty slow pace. Another great option would be the freewing mig29 if you were looking for military jets...or the eflite viper 90

I cut off 1/2" of spring in the mains as suggested in the video... huge mistake! I recommend NOT doing this upgrade. It makes things softer, but way too soft and completely changed ground handling. I was sticking landings until I did this! Replaced springs and all is well. I should have known better, it it's not broke don't fix it.

@@cbradley0427 just remove the scissors..and theres a small sliding screw that also needs to be removed

The controls failure seems to be persistent: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iphtlpVyfq68o6Q.html Try separating the battery for the engine from the controls and receiver battery to avoid voltage drop during full power.

Ive done many...maaany full power dives...normally a few per flight. I think it has mlre to do with people using a nose heavy cg...which is what the factory cg is...amd then the elevators have more load. I have my cg 10mm aft of the recomended cg. 40-50 flights on factory servos and bec with no issues

@@hechtspeed What is helping you is the increase in intake aperture, which reduces engine consumption. If CG was the issue, the plane would not be able to take off.

@@hechtspeed The objective of a nose heavy attitude is to delay stall, since the plane is tossed forward by the imbalance which increases lift (good for heavy models). Like you said, this setup is inefficient because you have to pull on the elevator to stabilize the plane, therefore creating more drag.

I wouldnt say that at all. A couple tweaks that were easy to do...not sure that means it needs to be totally re designed
