If the route had been slightly more twisty, you would definitely have caught up with that sport bike. It's only 47 hp, but the mid-range torque is very good, MUCH better than modern 500 twin-cylinder engines. However, it is necessary to keep the engine above 3500 rpm and 7000 rpm (below 3000 is quite lumpy) and a 6-speed gearbox would be needed because the engine rpm drops too much between one gear and another. The Freewind is a highly underrated bike, extremely fun, very light, quite comfortable and suitable for all routes.

Nice to see someone who can actually ride .You don't need massive hp to go fast !

Great video and even greater ride dude. I'm impressed. You really push the XF at the limits in this ride! Just to mention that it hasn't 47 hp. The factory gives 42 and at the wheel it has significantly less. But still it's a great motorbike. I have one and I'm very pleased! After that video I have to admit that I need to improve my riding skills because my motorbike has more abilities! Be good mate! (extra edit) I made a mistake... so, the motorbike has 48 hp from the factory... I'm embarassed...lol

Oh man, i rode a freewind for 2 years (a2 license europe) and i absolutly love this thing, eventhough it hasn't got the greatest power in the twisties. Absolutly can hang with small sportbikes tho (RC390 or CB300RR)

Pedro Silva It's fantastic as a first bike. Not too much power, easy to handle, very light weight, awesome suspensions and really comfortable for a single cylinder bike... When I bought mine it had 54 000 km and now it has 80 000. The engine still works like it's new :) As long as you follow the maintenance intervals for oil changes for example, it will never let you down

Hi mate, In this specific video, I was trying a weird "hybrid" style: I was moving my body towards the inside of the curve, but with my leg out like sm style. It feels a bit weird but it was working good. But in general I tend to drive this bike more like a SM. I've put my knee down a few times on it, but the driving position is not really designed for it.

Hello Kyryhl ! Thank you for your comment. I managed to find the Anakee 3 in the right dimensions for the bike, 100/90-19 and 130/80-17, so no issue to mount them ! But I think the Metzeler Tourance Next are a bit better, because the Michelin make the bike very stable but less nimble. If you like stability over agility you can head for the Michelin !

Looking how someone is going this fast with the same bike i own makes me sad, cuz i'm a beginner ._.

When i push mine on tight corners i feel im loosing the back wheel. The hole bike loses its ballance and tries to regain a wider angle. Of course im a noob driver but i found this very weird because i have driven sportier bikes and i never had this issue. I forgot to mension that the bikes has a new pair of very sticky tyres and i own two of them. Do you think that the rear suspension causes this problem? (the monoshock isnt working that good)

Hello, I never had to complain about this bike's suspension, however there is a setting of rebound to the rear damper that you can adjust (behind a cap under the rear wheel arch) You also may either: - Use inadequate tire pressure - Have a worn off rear wheel ball bearing Or simply your tires are too new: all new tires will be very slippy at first, you need to drive them carefully for around 100 km, increasing your max lean angle progressively in order to 'break-in' you tire Hope that helps

​@@prodromosk5401 Yes. U r right! The Freewinds Suspension is to weak. The Fork a bit wobbly. U need progressive Springs in the fork and a progressive Spring in the Back. U put an Fork stabilizer on it too. 350€ without work. Job done! The Freewind suspension is too comfy, too soft. Great Bike anyway. I own one myself.

Hey mate, I haven't tried those tires so I cannot give you any precise feedback about them, what I can tell you is they should be fine if you plan on taking the freewind off road sometimes, if you just plan on using it on roads you get get better alternatives :)

Yianni075 Countersteering is just how you ride a motorcycle. You might not do it consciously, but you're doing it all the time, even if just to keep the bike going straight.

astropapi1 nope. You actually never counter steer a motorcycle. You apply a force that would lead to counter steering (you force in the opposite direction to where you wanna go) but your handlebar will turn the right way :) You can find some videos that show it easily on KZread :)

And if I put my hands off the handlebar the bike will go straight :) So to sum up you 'counter force' but you do not counter steer :)

what tires did you have on this freewind?

It was Michelin Anakee 3 tires on that video, which i replaced since then by Dunlop Trailsmart tires :) The grip from the Anakee's was really good, but the Dunlop really makes the bike way easier to handle, and so they make the freewind greater.

Up 120 kmh is god like real SM but if you try over than is problem. he have the same speed like DRZ 400

+KaylDomaj the mods you have made, how is the fuel consumption, your general opinion about the bike.. This kind of stuff. I had to look for information about the bike in forums and I couldn't find a complete review or opinion. I found some good stuff in Spanish, but I think in English would get much more attention. I just got my bike and it's so fucking amazing. People underrates this bike whitout knowing it. What a shame :/
