I know a few apps exist where you input your levels taken from the reader, it then states amount of insulin records per amount of carbs. Can you help suggest which apps us good for this . Thanks.

I really wish there was a way to calibrate these things though. I've found it's VERY inaccurate a lot of the time. This morning I scanned and it said my blood sugar was 392(yes I know that's very high, but I'm sick so it's to be expected) I did a finger stick to make sure and it came out at 546. The other day I showed at 143 did a stick and it came back at 232.

Hello, and thanks for the video! I'm brand New to this system, and my first application was strange. I pressed very hard on the inserter, but it never went in. My husband tried, and he pushed harder, it still didn't go in. Like it was stuck. So after fiddling with it for a minute, it popped and the blue part disappeared and all we could see was the needle. My husband just inserted it manually like a shot. He says he watched the needle go in. Had this ever happened to you? Was it a faulty applicator? I'm in the US, so I have to wait 12 hours to use the sensor. I'll know at 7am if it's working I guess. I'm just wondering is this had happene to anyone else, and if it worked for them

Thank you for this video! I just got my FSL on Friday, and this video has helped me understand some of the inner workings of the device. I'm in the States, so it takes 12 hours for a sensor to activate and start being readable. The readings I am getting are consistent with the finger sticks I used to do. Have you found any small carrying cases for the FSL that will hold the test strips, a lancing device and a few lancets for those rare instances when the meter asks for a manual reading? Thanks again for a very informative video.

So what I’ve been doing is just scanning a new sensor with my reader at day 12/13 and then the reader says this is a new sensor would you like to deactivate the old sensor and activate this one and I press yes . Then after 1 h it’s ready to go. I always do that before flying or traveling so I don’t need to change my sensor when at the airport and it always works. You would need to contact abbott if it doesn’t work like that 😭😭😭 I hope that helps. Does that answer your question 😃

This was really useful, thank you. Do you or any of your contacts have tips for those diabetics who have had bad reactions to the Freestyle Libre? My (grown-up) daughter has found the device invaluable in improving the management of her diabetes, but has to weigh up this benefit against the fact that the sensors make her arm incredibly sore. Having not worn a sensor for many months, she has just returned to using one and is experiencing the same problem even though she is using a barrier spray on her skin with an Elastoplast over the sensor to make sure it does not fall off. Has anyone got any helpful advice, please?

Thanks for your comment. So unfortiunatly, i dont think i can help. I would advice you to speak to Abbott direclty and they might produce a sensor without the adhesive so you can just put your own one thats fine (no reaction). If not, i can suggest to just remove the origianal adhensive, you can do that during sensor insertion preparation and replace it with a different one. This would probably get rid of your waranty on that sensor but it might be worth trying. Let me know how it goes. Thanks so much

Hello again, and thank you for your helpful reply. When my daughter first experienced the issue with the Freestyle Libre making her arm very sore, both she and I separately rang the Freestyle Libre helpline and were told in no uncertain terms that there was no existing problem with people having bad skin reactions while wearing the sensor and they had never heard of anyone else with the same issue! When I mentioned all the people who had used the Libre and who were discussing their sore arms on the internet, the person I was speaking to completely denied that this was the case. Very bizarre as all the discussions were plain to see and I cannot believe that Abbott did not know about them!! Their only advice was for my daughter to speak to her GP! I don't know whether or not Abbott are still denying the existence of the problem in some diabetics. Your suggestion to remove the adhesive from the sensor is very interesting and I shall certainly pass this on to my daughter. Today I watched a KZread video from T1DSarah who wears her Freestyle Libre on her thigh and, whilst not advocating that everyone should do the same thing, she finds the readings to be very accurate - it would be interesting to know whether you have ever tried unofficially altering the site of your Libre? Thank you for your help and for all your other informative videos on KZread.

Very interesting. I know for a fact that couple of people had problems with the adhesive and abbott is aware of it for sure. I hope that your GP has some useful advice and maybe a spray or something. I’ve never inserted my sensor into a different place because I just find scanning my arm the easiest and most convenient place. Also I wear the transmitter at the top of the libre so it’s bigger so it would be difficult to have it on a different part of my body. ( spoiler I will have some Freestyle Libre videos soon so keep an 👁 for them ) 😃😭🤗

The key for most of us Americans is to either get the insurance companies or the government plans to pay for 70 to 80 percent of the charges after soaking us for hefty premiums every month...

With the Freestyle Libre you get a reading every five minutes, and a graph recording those readings revealing a roller coaster, both the highs and the lows. Can you imagine poking yourself every 5 minutes? This device is the best thing to be invented since sliced bread...

Hey guys there's a reason where three's a 14 day limit on the sensor/transmitter (the transmitter actually contains all the active electronics that 'make things work' the 'sensor' is a specially coating needle with expensive and *consumable* material) Leaving it on for a day before activation is a *HUGE MISTAKE AND ILL EXPLAIN WHY* and second of all of a sensor could last 21 days they would beef up the battery, update the firmware, beef up the sensor needle and chathat's The device is consumable, the 'needle sensor' is made of expensive rare metals & materials that have been "carefully & with a price tag" 'doped' and chemically applied and they use as little as needed and as soon as its inside the body the needle starts to wear, its possible accuracy is gained the first day, however its reduced the end accuracy, AT LEAST, MUCH MORE and ignores the amount of time when the needle is wearing out. Just because just not technically activated does NOT mean the sensor is not wearing out and can create a dangerous situation near the end of the 14 day life and the battery is not being used. A good example, and proof, is the unit is alive and waiting to be active once its assembled *THE PROOF* that the battery is enabled from the second its implanted on the skin and using the battery waiting to be activated is that You *CANNOT* active a transmitter that has NOT been assembled - this proves that the small battery is being drained from the minute its implanted waiting for activation Thinking Your somehow playing games to get alleged more accuracy helps is wrong, people may die on the last day when the sensors has worn out however the CPU inside the the device thinking its been installed and on within 60 minutes of activation will ALSO think is reliable on the *8THE DAY* and used the wrong ADC BIAS/lookup tables which could very well kill people. It may ruin the accureny because of battery/BIAS drain tables most of the month - when I have money for a few spare sensors I'll use My lab to find out When You tell people one may makes it more accurate, its only human nature people people will try a two install before activation this will almost CERTAINLY CAUSE DEATH due to incorrect readings which they then are *MORE ACCURATE* (and three day) The adhesives (there are two sets) are not designed for more then 14 days. So putting it on one or two days earlier before activation causing people to keep it on for 15-16 days which outlives the designed seal to the body is risking ruining the sterility of the device and potentially could cost limbs on diabetics and for everyone many serious infections and sepsis (although diabetics are the only ones that will wear it, except for trails)

Thanks for a great vid. I'm not surprised that we here in the US have a longer wait for activation for no justifiable reason. They don't really seem to want us to take control of our health but keep us relying on doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Here in the US our government representatives have sold their souls to the lobbyists and are allowed to take money from pharmaceutical and doctor's lobbyists. Therefore, they make sure that we pay higher prices than just about any other 1st world country, don't allow Medicare or Medicaid to use their buying power to lower the cost of drugs, and can't even get lancets, or CGMs without a prescription. Sadly, so many of the voters fall for lies or half-truths to keep them from voting for "socialized" medicine. I think it's a disgrace that in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, people die here because they can't afford their insulin or other meds.
