Freedom Shield Review | Test Ride | Indian Chief Dark Horse Motorcycle

Hey everyone! This is WildOn2s. This Motovlog is a Review of my new Windshield by Freedom Shields on my Indian Chief Dark Horse. I ordered my Freedom shield through IndianAftermarket.com. They have aftermarket products for Indian Motorcycles. I needed a windshield bracket for the new windshield and Marcus handmade the bracket for the Freedom shield. Thank you for this review! I ordered the Indian Factory windshield and it is not even 14 inches. I measured it and it measures 13.5". That half inch off makes a difference to me, especially in Lubbock winds. I am 5'9 and get lots of buffeting on my head and I get headaches after long rides. I am ordering a Freedom Shield probably in a 16" since my new seat lifted me up a couple of inches. Thank you again!

    Looks real good. I wonder why they didn't black out the (7) bolts on the front, since it is a dark horse. Although, they sorta compliment the rivets of the seat trim and the side case bolts, just bigger. No way would I want a bike without a windshield.

    Wingin' It with John seriously I rode around with no windshield for while. Now can’t imagine a bike without one lol. Ya they tried to compliment the seat rivets but new dark horse I think blacked out

    I had just wasted $700 at Indian for their windscreen so much buffeting, rode home 1 hour and took off. Email freedom and so helpful and will be getting replacement from them. I am 6.3 and Indian seemed to only get 11.3? They should have realized it was bad for me. Thanks for this VIDEO.

    If you had to do it over again would you stick with the 14" or go with 16"? I'm also 5'10 and you said that with the 14" the wind off the top of the shield hit your helmet. Just wondering if you would go 2" taller to have it clear your helmet as well. On the fence. Wanted a 12" but that will send the diverted wind directly into my helmet. Just wondering if I should go 14" or 16". Hate the look of windshields, so I'll only have it on for long highway rides. Not sure if I should just go with the 16, since it's going to stay off 90% of the time

  • @WildOn2sVlog

    @WildOn2sVlog

    Thomas Houston I wouldn’t go higher for me. Since I went with the darkest tint. If it was clear then it wouldn’t matter too much and go higher. At 14 I like the range it gives me. If i get into my lazy boy position it flows over but sitting up straight hits the top of my helmet but not in a bad way. I have a vent in my helmet so supplies nice cooling here in Texas. Also opening in front is great. If it was higher going up hill it would block my line of sight. Remember if you order the 14 leave the protective film and go on a test ride. You can send it back if your not happy and get the 16. But if you take off the film then no returns.

    @@HoustonT17 a year later I’m in the same dilemma. Wondering what you decided to go with, the 14 or 16? Any particular reason why?

  • @HoustonT17

    @HoustonT17

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TWR59767 I ended up going with the 12", but I cannot use it. It's probably as much if not more due to the fact that I'm using a Corbin seat, which sits me back a couple inches and I have 16" apes. The combination creates a crazy amount of helmet buffeting at high speed. Honestly, I should probably give it another shot this spring, but I would only really ever use it when it's probably too cold to ride anyway. Can't say for sure if the height of the shield really played a difference, since even when I lower my head to where 14" or 16" would have put me I still get the heavy buffeting. With a full full helmet, I don't know how necessary a wind shield really is. Having said that, another guy I ride with got the 12 and loves it. But he doesn't wear a helmet, and he doesn't go on the highway nearly as often. Not sure if that helps lol
