@Emblem of Vigilance most of the residential buildings are hit with bombs, missiles, and artillery and are nowhere near any Russian forces. So there is no way for people in those buildings to be attacking the illegally invading Russian forces. The crimes in this invasion are very one sided.

I have been volunteering at a Ukrainian refugee camp in Poland. Many women come in needing plan b pills because of rape by Russian soldiers. There needs to be accountability when this is over and justice needs to be served. It won’t fix what is happening but it will set an example.

My girlfriend is in Odessa, and there is nothing I can do, the suffering is real. The news flash about an apartment building being bombed happened in her neighborhood, a neighborhood I grew up in. I saw watched that building being built, and then I was on the phone with her hearing bombs exploding.

My family were some of the 5 million Poles were shipped to slave labour camps in Siberia only 4 million came out. Lost family in Siberia. My grandfather's brother was a Customs official on Poland's Eastern border at the outbreak of WW2, many years later it was confirmed that he was buried in one of the mass graves at Katyn. His wife and children were never heard from again, this is the Soviet way.

From September 1939 until June 1941, while western Europe was fighting Germany, Russia was content to rape and pillage their part of conquered Poland, including what is now Western Ukraine. The killed tens of thousands of innocent people. Yet to this day, Russian schools do not teach this part of history, instead saying that the Great Patriotic War did not start until 1941 and ended in 1945 when Russia single handedly defeated Germany.

Thank You for reminding people of the dark history that is Russia's shame. Stalin killed millions more than Hitler ever did, and Russia has never really been taught the lesson it needs to learn. Soon perhaps.

I understand Gen Eaton's suggestion that NATO should place a presence in the Black Sea. I was in that frame of mind initially. However, 2 problems arise from that. First, it puts Turkey in Putin's cross hairs because Turkey controls access to the Black Sea and has already prevented Russia from sailing a replacement flagship into the Sea. While this is Turkey's right to do so, Putin will take it personally as interference in the WAR and strike back. I don't think Putin would want to involve NATO by attacking a NATO constituent, but NATO members seem to be gripped by the fear created by a mere glance from Putin. The second issue is that if/when NATO starts putting submarine drones in the Black Sea to seek and destroy Russian assets, then it will be best to have no NATO ships in the Sea at all. When the ships start sinking there will be no better excuse than for NATO to shrug their shoulders and say, "We know nothing." Submarine drones are virtually impossible to track to their origin after they have implemented a loitering random course. Russian ships just sink with no evidence of foul play. No sonar trail and no radar trail.

I can't even find words to describe these atrocities. Why are we letting this go on???

This part of Russian strategic culture. If terror doesn't help escalate and use even more terror... Glory to the Ukrainian people and heros, God and the free world is on your side.

as horrific as Nazis were in WWII, they treated POWs with respect in comparison to Russians. Being captured by Russians was a fate worse than death during battle according to my great grandfather who fought for Germany as opposed to Americans or Brits where they did not feel it was required to fight to the death. Just how Russian commanders treated their own soldiers, like "meat with guns "not humans according to Germans was enough to inform them just how valuable a POW life would be worth in their hands

Very smart to remember names like that to let their families know. People have probably been doing similar things throughout history.. I read that for sure American POWs during the Vietnam war took extensive measures to memorize names and information, in some cases making up rhymes, acronyms, or songs to help them recall everything correctly once released. America was aggressively defending its interests in South East Asia but was NOT poisoning civilians in America and carting off dissidents. In fact We protected people in America who voiced anti war beliefs. I did not serve, I had the luxury to choose not to serve because of the brave men and women who have served so I can’t speak to the circumstances of the Vietnam war what I can say, is that while atrocities did occur, We as Americans are free criticize and learn from our mistakes. Our overwhelming victories in the Persian gulf region are a direct result of the lessons learned our support for our troops while holding the commanders accountable are a direct result of the lessons learned from Vietnam. Our ability to support Ukraine logistically is a direct result of the lessons learned in the gulf region. We account for collateral damage Putin cultivates it.

What's the point behind torturing civilians for information? I understand the shameful tactic of trading civilians for your captured soilders. But what information can be gained by cutting civilian hands to the bone?

I don't believe any of this because civilian's aren't part of the military that's running the show so in theory they would not know what is being planned so I don't believe Russian troops and their commander's are that dumb. It would be like torturing my dog in what I've got planned.

Amy, do you think its possible for it to ever stop? I like to think that technology can help by showing people just how horrible it is, but some days, I'm not so sure. Some days I feel like after a few generations, too much of society will forget about the horrors from the past, and then they'll start all over again. I hope that's not the case though. Bc the ugliness to it has no limit, like you said. And I know we can do so much better than this

But I can say that raises self awareness, compassion, resolve, motivation, etc. In other words, it can be therapeutic and definitely isnt harmful. But besides that, this person aware of what's going on and wants it to stop. That's a good thing. So why give them a hard time? I just dont understand

Is someone initiating peace talks? Because if you are talking about war, we aren't going to let that happen. Nice try though.

I suspected, over 6 weeks ago, that when Russia is done in Ukraine they would go after Moldova before any of the NATO countries... I've never even been related to anyone serving in the military yet I could see this strategy, plain as day. If he still has enough soldiers, he'll go after Finland next, hoping to get to them before they join NATO. This action by Putin has never been just about Ukraine. And if NATO (and the US specifically) don't start defending these countries, they will share the blood on their hands and STILL not be able to avoid WW3. NATO needs to put Putin's aggression down now, quickly and get Putin out of Moscow to be tried for his crimes... The longer this is delayed, the more mass murder, genocide and occupation will continue, and will continue by including more & more free and sovereign nations. Look, nobody wants to put US toops into another war, I get it... But, eventually we won't have a choice, and by then, we will have chosen to standby while millions are slaughtered. We need to reflect on WW2. Do we regret not getting involved sooner? How many millions might have been saved if we had come to the aid of our allies sooner? Are we willing to let that all happen, again? I'm so sorry, I know I'm not a military person, but we can't continue to standby and hope that Ukraine wins... Because Putin will push that button before he loses anything... No matter if NATO didn't join the fight... He'll burn it all down rather than be declared the loser.

Instead of hiding behind civilians, why not the Ukrainian soldiers let them go. All that they (soldiers and civilians) need to do is raise the white flag and come out of the bunker, then the suffering will right there and then end. The Russian army could have stormed the bunker days ago. But the chose to give them a chance to surrender. The Ukrainian rhetoric to fight to the last man is but to take the civilians to the abyss with them. Pure evil!
