Bhai Satpal Singh explores the concept of Free Will and choices. Do we make our own choices in life through our free will, or is everything controlled by our destiny (Hukam)?
In this workshop Satpal Singh covers:

- How does karma affect my life
- The ego doesn't exist
- What defines our behaviour
00:00 - Are we making our own choices?
07:22 - The illusion of ‘me’
12:11 - The unrealised mind
14:58 - Karma and past actions
17:05 - Everything is life

I agree with many of the comments on this video, the point being made is not an answer to the question - a beautiful point but not an answer. From how I have come to interpret Sikhi, there is always room for effort on the part of the individual, this is the choice that the person can make. BUT God's Will is the only thing that actually happens, so in the end it is all preordained. For example, a doctor can treat a patient to the best of their ability with the best medication but the patient can still die. Conversely, doctors can give up on a terminally ill patient and the patient can still recover. In both scenarios there is the ability to try or to act towards a goal, but in both scenarios, Maharaj's Hukam is all that comes to fruition. This interpretation may be wrong but I am only human, I can not fully ever understand the depth of Sikhi but this explanation encompasses the teachings of Karma and Vaheguru's Hukam.

Cont1 This is a great pravachana, which has answered my question and would change my life forever. I have been contemplating on this pravachana from the last two days and have heard it thrice and believe me, I was shell shocked as my ego was hurt very badly because the bubble called 'I' was bursted. I am still not able to come to terms with it but I guess sooner or later I will fall inline with the reality.

Namaskara, This is a very profound pravachana which has answered my question which I was carrying for more than an year now. I used to think that there are two wills, one is mine and the other is Gods. I was caught in this circle, I was thinking that If I was not free to act and do what I want to then what is the purpose of me being here on earth. and If everything is planned and controlled by God then what is the point of this life, I was asking all these questions as a separate entity.

I understand this concept however this concept that everything is Hukum and even the thoughts and actions are not mine , I’m not doing it thinking anything thhen where and how does the conceit of karma fits and why then Doing bad karma thinking harmful thoughts ( also not in my control ) creates hell for me (this life ) ?

SAT SRI AKAL ... im sorry I don't think I understood the point. firstly the music in the background was distracting and made it hard to hear what paji was saying, if we don't have free will and 'life' the power that be etc dictates, then why do we do ardas? why do we pray and ask for things?. Also if Waheguru is leading our life then our sins is also an act of the divine? so should we just lay back and enjoy and appreciate life?

you are right when you said we cannot do sins. But the question what is sins and goodwill. according to gurmat, when we think against the hukam(inner voice) by using our brain is called a sin. we cannot do a sin physically but can only think.--- ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਿਚ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥,,,,if you want you learn more ,,go to sachkhojacademy.com or search sachkhojacademy on youtube

There is a another video by this channel called 'how to do ardaas' (something like this) Where he explains what is the real meaning of ardaas and it is meant to give us strength to follow and accept the hukam instead of asking for materialistic stuff.

Sorry I consider myself a deep thoughtful & open person but he does'nt address the issue of free will or destiny. He just keeps commentating on existence without really going anywhere that addresses the question.
