FREE FEEDER FISHING - Big River - Urban Fishing - Hot Weather - River Trent - Trent Bridge

Спорт

This week we explore the free fishing Trent Embankment further and try to catch with swim feeder near but not too close to Trent Bridge in Nottinghamshire. Maggots, hemp and caster the baits but would we catch on a hot sunny morning in a clear low river with rowing boats galore? Urban Perch Fishing.

Lovely Kev. Such nostalgia for me. I caught my first ever river fish from that exact spot. A gobio about 1/2 oz. I took 2 busses to get there from Mansfield. The 345 in and another from Victoria bus station with all my tackle at 13 yrs old and wagged school for the day on 16th June 1981 Great memories. Keep doing the Trent videos

I also use to fish this part of the embankment forty years ago. It was good for Roach and Perch back then. Millions of Gudgeon. We recently took out Rib boat with fish finder along this stretch of the Trent from Colwick sluice gates up to Clifton bridge . Like Kev said “ lots of metal snags under Trent bridge” the water depth surprised me at only 8.5ft in the middle arch. Suspension bridge 7.0ft, Wilford toll bridge, close in 13ft ,Clifton bridge 4.5ft. The deepest part of this stretch was 18ft at Little Higgen. I always thought it was much deeper.

Nostalgic viewing for me Kev. Used to fish tother side of the bridge...Turners key, back in the 80s . Had a few nice chub out of there on sweet corn. Remember listening to the charts on a Sunday...In the air tonight was no1... Lost a really nice reel on the embankment, near the Toll House pub... Who needs expensive complicated kit , to have a bit of real fishing....Nature at its best

Brought back some good memories. Used to fish opposite the flats. 30odd years ago. 6 pints of bronze maggots and about 8 feeders😁. You would literally catch anything.chub, barbel, bream, tench, carp and great big perch. Old line spool to help keep your rod rest up. I wonder if the barbel are still there. Might have to give it a go.

What is the music in the intro to this great video, from 8 years of age up to 20 years ago this was my hemp and caster area, there used to be a pole sticking out the steps about half way from where you are now to the foot bridge, the river just pushed out at that point due to the slight bend and was a spot to head for, the pole sticking out was a built in rod rest, 10-15 lb of roach any day of the week and i lost a fish well over 2 lb, most were 6-12 0z but fantastic fun, i spent all those years fishing every part of the Trent from Gunthorpe to Thrumpton all free and now living in the far south west its just a memory. so thank you for this chance to relive the best of my Angling times, Tim Lee

The rod rest pole was an old boat mooring and stuck out the water about 18" at normal summer level just above the small slab of concrete step that sticks out a 3 feet, that area is slightly shallower maybe 5-6ft but with an ABU 506 3-4BB stick float and light 12ft float rod it was heaven to glide a float through, just holding back slightly..... i watch all your river videos and a few of the still water ones, i won the schools championship 1975-6 Horis Story shield held along the Nelson field stretch peg C16 fishing that same method, feeding little and often, behind a stick float, one of the Anglers in the Three tones fishing club i was in would always wade in the river.... he would step up and down where he stood creating a cloud of sediment and fed it as he ran his Center pin and heavy quill through his swim again holding back, he nearly always won! the out flow road stretch was another video i enjoyed having fished that same swim / peg 45 years ago, i must of had 300 Gudgeon.... ha ha, all good fun. Tim

@@nottsfishingkbtv402 There is no rivers with any coarse fish in, the rivers that are here are trout and fly fishing only, so now and again i trot a float catch a trout and run.... and the still waters are very deep, 60ft old clay pits not what you would call natural, i think Tamar lake about 2 hours away is the nearest to fishing i used to, so as you would guess the waters that are here get well fished. the river Cober near Loe pool is a stretch of just a mile and has a few roach in but has strict control only open to very local anglers, there are some fantastic roach in the now land locked harbour at Pentewen sands next to the pub, but the police get called as soon as any of the locals see a fishing rod but they dont mind the cormorants eating them at all, Cornwall is a coarse fisherman`s night mare, so when you have a chance you grab it. and then run...... mind you at my age its getting a bit iffy, ha ha.... keep up the great videos and a big thank you from me!
