    I've watched several of these videos and for those of you possibley missing how it works ;there creating a vacuum in the tanks similar to what a handpump does which works up to aprox 32 feet above the source. This is technology lost to most of us as we have become sensitized to using electricity to do everything. Some well spent time here; thanks for sharing your videos and looking forward to sharing this around. You have made my day by sharing this. I can't thankyou enough. Thankyou again.

This is not a siphon, it doesnt depend on atmospheric pressure. its sucking water in via the smaller pipes with a vacuum created in the downhill side with bigger outlets, and the air trap. the ratio is 1:3 im sure it might need fine tuned and may need recharged every so often but better 30 mins than bucketing a field worth of water all day.

    This works on the principle of syphon and force created by vacuum. the volume of the 2 tanks are more than the volume of the inlet pipes. now when the thanks are full and its water is draining then the vacuum is created in the tanks and water is lifted from the the pond by vacuum. But 2 conditions are essential one is the tank should be leak proof and secondly the volume of the tank should be higher. More the volume of the tanks you will get the faster rate for water. But the idea is super.👍👍👍

    @Learn For Life, This is a wonderful technology and most appropriate for those with low economy. From my physics: This is a system & works because the pipes from the river enter the upper air-filled space left by water inside the 2 tanks. So when the valves where the water was filled are closed & all outlet valves opened (2 from the river & 2 from the drums), water leaving the 2 drums create a vacuum which pulls water from the river to replace water going to the farm. Please keep up with such creativity/inventions. Remember, "creativity is the mother of invention!"

    I like this kind of field irrigation but l can't do it as l am a woman. Do l understand that when the 2 drums in the upper deck are filled, they close the opening where they originally poured the water? Then when every opening is close, does the water flows from the river thru a smaller pipe into the 2 drums? I don't understand why. But as l understood, when the water inside the drum is poured down to the 3rd drum, it creates a vacuum that causes it to suck water from the river. Is it?

    SIMPLE EXPLANATION!!! (If the outlet pipe is HIGHER than the water supply height) ..It will work for a short while! As the initial ‘energy’ was applied to the system by the buckets of water ‘lifted’ up to fill the top tanks. As the water in the upper tanks drain they create a greater & greater vacuum which will draw more water in for a short period. HOWEVER!..the amount of water that is leaving the upper tanks (due to gravity) will be slightly greater than the amount being drawn in & effectively ‘building’ a greater & greater vacuum in the whole system! It’s this vacuum that will pull on & eventually stop the flow in the outlet pipe. If the end of the outlet pipe is lower than the supplying water then we have a simple siphoning setup! Which will work with a straight pipe or whatever CONTRAPTION you choose to install to blind the audience with. .....I live for Physics & this is not a complicated one 👍

This does not require drums and pipe paraphernal. Take any hose and fill it with water without bubbles. Place one end in a bowl of water and the other end at the bottom. Lift the central part of the hose without taking it out of the water and you will see that the water will not stop flowing ...

However, after the end of the video, those people will remove the system because it will not work due to the lower river water level, the water pumped out is just water in the tank and the image of the water being pumped up a bit. is caused by the vacuum created when the water in the tank is released, but it is not strong enough to maintain operation.

    It is a Siphon NOT a Pump. The outlet discharge has to be lower than the water level of the river. A simple siphon system with the barrel used as an air trap. If the intake sucks air in from a spiral vortex same as when the water runs out of the bath. A straight pipe would collect the air at the highest point and stop working. The air will collect in the barrel and the outlet continue to run crating negative air pressure pulling water into the barrel intake pipe until the water level fails to cover the outlet pipe of the barrel.

    If you studied fisics in the secundary school, you know that it's impossible to move water from a lower level to a upper level without using a pump or a container, because the water moves for the gravitational potential energy. The gravitational potential energy is product of multiplication between weight and height, and weight is product of multiplication between mass and acceleration of gravity, so E = mass * acceleration of gravity * height. If the level is the same, the height is 0 metter, so the water not move between two levels, while if the level of water is diferent, the water moves from upper level to the lower level because the height is different than 0 metter. If you need move water from upper level to lower level, you just need a hose and suck from the upper level to the lower level, just like extracting fuel from a vehicle tank (as it happens in the movies). While that if you need move water from lower level to upper level, you need a pump. The pump contributes gravitational potential energy to the water as its height increases, but it needs energy, because the energy is only transformed, first from electric or quimic energy (fuel) to cinetic energy, and then, from cinetic energy to gravitational potential energy. The explanation is simple, the energy needed to raise the water from the lower level is greater than the energy provided by the suction force generated by the water outlet at the upper level. Saludos desde Uruguay!

    I feel bad for all the people that got fooled by this video. You can't syphon uphill, no matter how "sciencey" your project looks. Best case scenario, you could alternate valves and use the momentum of the water leaving the tanks to temporarily create a vacuum strong enough to pull up a little bit of water. If this worked, they would be everywhere.. a long time ago.

    Why 3 barrels? The lower one does absolutely nothing. The vertical tube on the discharge tume only waste your money. The input from the river must be higher than the discharge to the rice field for this to work. If all tubing is air tight, you do not need any barrels. If you use a barrel you can set it directly on the ground, not lifting it up with more difficulty getting access to it.

With a barrel, you do not need a foot valve at the suction side and you do not need to prime the suction tube. There is no need for elevating the barrels, only makes it more troublesome to fill. If you can fill the tube in an other way, a simple tube or hose will work as siphon. In any case, a siphon can not pump water up, not one inch.

    @jiwakamikaze

    Thats true. They were using syphon technique. Syphon need output lower than water resources. But in this one. They combined with gravity and pressure use the tank. If they used directly pipe from the water resources the project will not success. But they use two tank up there as land water resources to make more energy in gravity when they open the valve. When the water flow out from two tank to another tank the pressure will pump in the water from the water source behind. The water will remain drain into the tank continuously. And the size of pipe also is important part to make the good pressure.
