FREE Data Recovery Even After Formatting!!

Ғылым және технология

Today I'm going to show you how to recover data that's been deleted. This will work even if you have emptied the recycle bin and even if you have formatted your hard drive. Its not fun to loose data but its even better if you can get data back for free.

Dude, thanks for real. Just recovered my 100 Hours Dark souls 3 save. I thought it had cloud sync with Steam, imagine my face when i booted up the game after formatting the PC and my saves weren't there...thankfully i went to play it right after reinstalling windows and the program was able to restore it with no problems.

I once had a hard drive that wouldn't boot at all. I had to learn how to use Test Disk and Photo Rec which are Linux based recovery tools. I had zero experience with Linux but I finally figured it out and got all my data files and photos back. I then trashed that HDD for a new one and reinstalled Windows. I've used Recuva to get back files and photos before even long after I realized I had deleted stuff. Luckily the files weren't overwritten and recoverd nicely. It works well.

I been tryin 2 recover files I lost in a folder due 2 a virus since Monday(5 days), it has been frustratin, to say the least....sleepless night, daily routine flow interrupted, overeating, etc. Malware made 1 of my folders completely empty & unable to open...alot of those files have been there for months, & due to finance draw back, I have not been able to back them up like I normally due. I followed this video step-by-step, & it worked!!! I was able to see & retrieve every missin/deleted file, data, music, pics, video, documents, etc.!!! And I saved those files to a new folder on anotha installed drive as recommended.. The program is free!!! It will ask u to upgrade, but it isn't necessary to upgrade the program to retrieve your missin files....the free version takes care of it all.. Whew!! Thanks again!!

A little misleading in that formatting the drive was a quick format, which simply overwrites the FAT and marks the space as free. Also, Recuva's capacity to restore files will depend on the colour of the circle before the file name-green for a very good chance of recovery, yellow for 50/50, and red for near zero.

  • @CyberCPU

Quick format is always the default. In order to do a longer format you have to actually uncheck the quick format selection.

  • @soulstenance

@@CyberCPU Point is that quick format is practically identical to just deleting the files if not entirely identical. It also won't damage flash memory like a full format would since no bytes are actually being overwritten. If there is a tool that can recover reliably from a fully formatted drive that would be quite something. This is great information for the average user who might not have known this was possible though.

Going with what you said on recovering "accidently" dot dot dot.. A good video on that line would be if someone has a USB-drive or any that when plugged in does not show it or say's it's corrupted.. I have, for a few clients attempted to bring back from the dead, those mentioned drives.. It took me a couple weeks to figure it out, but most of them I was able to recover data or make it usable again. The only ones I could not "FIX" were those with physical damage and a couple that were literally fried.. I believe this could make a very viewed video.. How many times have you went to plug in a usb-drive to have it not show up?? Yeah, me too.. Many of your other viewers may find that very handy.. Loved the video, I find them very informative & helpful... Thank you for sharing..

Good video, however, when you delete it from the SD card, just because it does not go into the recycle bin does not mean they are deleted. They don't get really deleted until you remove the SD card because they are stored in a temp location and sometimes depending on availability, in memory. To prove that, simply hit CTRL + Z and your files will return. To permanently delete the files, hit Shift + Delete.

I was trying to find a way to convert an Mac APFS to NTFS, without data loss, to share a bunch of files with a PC user. My Partition Wizard program would not convert APFS to NTFS without data loss. I even called the company and ask if it was possible. They said not possible. Then I got the idea to use the data recovery component of my Partition Wizard to "recover" files from the APFS partition and "restore" them to an NTFS partition. It worked great.

I recently bought a second hand WD Elements 18TB external USB hard drive for backup purposes. I initialised the drive on a Win 10 pro system and created a new simple volume but when formatting the drive I un-checked the quick format option and did a full format - it took 28 hours to complete. I did this believing that all data on this drive belonging to the previous owner would now be permantently deleted and un-recoverable. In your video you formated the SD card leaving the quick format box checked. Could you comment on the difference between quick and full formatting and whether or not a full format really does completely reset the drive to factory state? Nice work, just found your channel and subscribed.

In case of a formatted drive, restore the deleted partition with Testdisk instead. Only works if nothing else happened to the formatted drive after it being formatted. Also of course it only works with quick formatted drives. He forgot to mention the important difference between quick and full format I guess.

Black screen and 2 days of learning and through a series of watching you I got the system back but not my desktop or anything else. THANK YOU. Took me 2 days - slow learner. Problem is (if I have it right) the original user profile was deleted in my amateur process. I can see a new profile. There was a time where I could see all my files under the original profile but now that folder is empty. Can the original profile contents be recovered or do I have to rebuild my system once I have recovered the files. Off topic question: About a year ago my Windows 10 Pro had a melt down and I spent a great deal of time fixing it, although I managed to loose my ability to log into my MS Account - I have a permanent license. I Could not recover my MS account as I had to supply a number of recent incoming email addys. I supplied many but MS would not accept them - they were from people in Real-estate and various Government agencies. All of them had very long addys, with many . this and . that as well as / this and /that. Can a Licensed MS tech phone MS and set my account straight again? My standard issue Outlook has been toast ever since. In general I need to know this so as I can be specific if this will work. I am in Canada so MS should be the same here.👍

Hey, I'm glad I found your video. I'm trying to recover a directory I foolishly deleted. I tried recuva but it takes HOURS to run and then tells me the swap file isn't large enough. Any thoughts as to how to proceed?

I’m not sure on this but you may need a drive bigger than the one you’re moving files from. It actually sounds like your situation would be successful otherwise.

Hi there, Your a pretty good instructor and I tried following the procedure using Recuva portable which I downloaded onto a flash drive. The laptop I'm trying to recover a specific Excel document was deleted both from the computer and recycle Bin. I hardly used this laptop since this file was deleted but it's been sitting in a closet for a year. Recuva found the Excel xlsx file and shows the size as being only 140 bytes, that the state is Excellent with No overwritten clusters detected. When I try to open it, it says Excel cannot open the xlsx because the file format or file extension is not valid? Not sure what to do next?

Me again, I think I was able to open the Excel spreadsheet but there is nothing there. Only shows 1KB which I know should be quite a bit larger memory being used. There was around 12 pages of info that I'm trying to recover.

Hello. Can anyone suggest me something with my problem. I wrote the lyrics in a notepad on the computer. Somehow I lost all the text, although before I saw it it asked if I want to save it, I confirmed and all the text was deleted. Now I took that program and restored the old files, but it shows me my text completely in Chinese and with hieroglyphs. What does it mean?
