OSPF is a link-state dynamic routing protocol, as opposed to the distance vector routing protocols RIP and EIGRP. You will study OSPF metric, OSPF neighbor adjacencies, and some additional OSPF configuration.
In this FREE and COMPLETE CCNA 200-301 course you will find lecture videos covering all topics in Cisco official exam topics list, end-of-video quizzes to test your knowledge, flashcards to review, and practice labs to get hands-on experience.

    ERRATA: At 4:57, I said 'The 100 megabits per second I configured as the reference bandwidth...' . It should be *100,000* megabits per second (or 100 *gigabits* per second). At 6:44, it should be '100 ( R1 *G0/0* ) + 1 (R2 L0) = 101', NOT '100 (R1 *G1/0* ) + 1 (R2 L0) = 101' At 31:10, the command should be 'auto-cost reference-bandwidth'. There is a missing hyphen.

I think that it is important to know for CCNA.

    Hello Jeremy, i have 2 questions about the Exstart and Exchange State. 1) Why in the Exstart state the routers send a first DBD packet ? Is it to set like an initial counter from the next DBDs sent in the EXCHANGE state? 2) These DBDs are a unique packet in which first the Master and then the Slave send ALL the LSAs header descriptions or they send (in turn) multiple DBDs packets each with a single LSA? However i can't stop to thank you. You definitely need a statue in the centre of CISCO quarter.

    Why did we say that to reach R2's L0 interface, it has to leave it? It doesn't have to leave it to reach it. Is it more of like just an added fee for going to a Loopback address inside a networking device?

    12:43 - Jeremy, you said OSPF messages are encapsulated in IP header. I suppose more correct will be: "OSPF messages are encapsulated in IP packet". Not header.

    why is it recommended in 9:30 min to change the bandwidth reference and then the interface cost? I understood that no matter if we don't change the reference bandwidth because if we change the interface cost that's what's gonna remain (so in the end the reference bandwidth will have no importance). Did I understand it wrong?

  • @freakkiller277
    @freakkiller277 Жыл бұрын

    It seems like the reference bandwidth is a flaw in the OSPF infrastructure. Is it that way due to lack of foresight? It doesn't make sense that a gigabit and 10gig link can be equally valued.

    Hi all, maybe someone can help me understand this process step: During the neighboring process (step 3, "2-way"), both routers exchange theit RIDs. In the next state (step 4, "Exstart"), both Routers try to be the master using DBD packets. I don't understand why they need to negotiate master/slave in step 4 if R1 (RID: 1.1.1.1) already knows that R2 (RID: 2.2.2.2) has a higher ID from the previous step 3? Maybe I'm missing here something. Cheers! BTW: Jeremy, thank you for your great content!
