Free car! Told it has issues, will it get me 250 miles?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I have a surprisingly good run to London on public transport, experience the Elizabeth Line for the first time and collect a new car from just outside the Ultra Low Emission Zone. But what is it? And will it get me home?

Thank you for this video, Ian! And especially for understanding how sad I was to let Miss Daisy go. Was a bit gutted that you didn’t have any issues with her on the way back to Wales 😂 because it means I might’ve been able to keep her a bit longer but I’m really glad she’s part of the Hub Nut family now where she can be appreciated for the lovely car she is and be looked after as well as she looked after me. Happy retirement, Miss Daisy! 🥹💖

Thanks for letting me take her away. Such a lovely little car. Can understand why you were sad to see her go.

Miss Daisy will be in safe hands with Ian Hubnut, what a lovely thing to do , may good karma return to you for your kindness 😊
Looks like a lovely car, very generous for the last owner to give it to you for free.
What a lovely gesture from a genuine lovely person - it's so lovely to know that in this awful world in which we live, that there is still such kindness around
I have to say when I lived in London I decided the perfect car for London was a V8 E38 BMW (the one Hubnut reviewed) because it was good at getting as far away from the place as possible on the weekends.

For many years (as in, nearly 30) I commuted into the toilet that is London. I still maintain that the best sign on the A1 is the one that reads THE NORTH Hatfield...

I drove a e38 from not far away from where Ian is. A lovely 735i which I paid £600 for in 2013. Drove it all the way to London Greenwich. Must say relaxing as cars go to drive. Effortless power and the best cabin and driving position. If it wasn’t for 2 issues I would still have it. One was the electrical gremlin which could not be traced possible loom issue. The other the gearbox was problematic and couldn’t find a suitable replacement but at 180k it had done well. I’d have another but a tidy one is huge money now
As a regular user of the Elizabeth line at Paddington, I had to smile at you not realising that you were looking at its new entrance before walking off. Lovely little car, I'm sure Miss Daisy will be getting some TLC from you.

Just wonder why Google maps was telling him to go another way though!
Great addition to the fleet, I've always admired the look of these. Maybe all it needed was an Italian tune-up.
Absolutely LoVE Miss Daisy. I totally get why you couldn’t pass up on this either. What a brilliant addition to the fleet but also a save of a rare and forgotten car!
18:37 sums up this channel perfectly. Porsche 911 passes and Ian is more interested in the Nissan van
It's been in London for a while, all it needs is a fluid change and good bloody ragging out of our horrible metropolis

Aka the Italian tune-up
What a cracking little car, amazing equipment levels and safety kit for the time.
I look forward to seeing more videos about this car. I can still vaguely remember when this car was launched and how it was said to have "love it or loathe it looks". The result of that is a car that is now fairly interesting. Daihatsu were also the kings if making zippy small engines too.
Maybe this is one car you should consider getting absolute perfect and as near to concourse as possible. You've got something really lovely and special here.

Yep, got to luv concourse welding......
cracking little car that if you drove it 250 mls & it put a smile on your face its a keeper i bet miss hubnut will love that
my first car was a Renault 12 ,I couldn't give it away, had to pay to have her scrapped..happy times! :) way way back in the 80s when music was good!
I think Miss Hubnut will love this car.
If I were to play internet car doctor for a minute, based off Chop's experience with the micra, and my own with a diesel Panda which tried to breathe water, it may have been some foreign matter in the MAF sensor which has since been sucked out, or some other kind of intermittent issue in that area. regardless, it seems like a nicely HubNut addition to the fleet
You were a brave man waving that phone about in London, that car was registered in Devon originally torbay. Haxbys of Plymouth car
I dealt with crazy London traffic for almost 15 years so I feel your pain
What a beautiful little car Ian. Perhaps your slightly harder driving blew the catalyst clean, or pushed some crud out of the injectors or fuel-rail pressure-relief valve or something? After the owner had given up on the little soul, it is rather nice it has found a new home in the HubNut fleet despite having been cured on the way to Wales (I suspect being in Wales is a cure in itself).
An excellent addition. Intererested to see a daylight full video review on this one, and to see how it settles into your Fleet. I hope its a long termer!
Beautiful little car, great color too, and it appears to be in terrific shape. After your safe trip home , You should send the previous owner a bouquet of flowers. Keep up the good work
Entertaining video, made all the better by including the journey on the trains to London. Good work!
Love it, a friend of mine had one exactly like that, same colour and everything. Lovely car!
Brilliantly enjoyable video Ian, thank you. Really enjoyed watching this one. Good luck with the new fleet addition.
Lovely car , nice colour to boot . Glad you made it back .
Very entertaining Ian !. I genuinely expected a “Vice Grip Garage” tale of woe, driving the 250 miles home. But a great little car there, I would look after it and let it enjoy the lovely Welsh coast away from the suffocation of London….it deserves it…
Amazing video as always and great car. Lovely to meet you at the Practical Classics show. You inspire me and keep the good work up Ian
The free car is in very good shape. Very well taken cared of I got to say. It's a keeper for sure. The previous owner so nice to let you have it.
Another great day and more fantastic content Ian. Nice one!!
Welcome to the channel, Miss Daisy! Hoping you enjoy many new adventures with Hubnut.
What a great little motor, most enjoyable to see a trouble-free journey for you as I think you deserve that, thanks for sharing and I look forward to more on Miss Daisy, well done!
Great video! Classic hubnut! Really liked the train ride with the music and the drive was good too. Thanks!
What a cracking little car Ian ! Once you’ve given her a service she’ll be even better 👍
Such a lovely little car and it seems no issues bar the wiper blades (fingers crossed). I do get what you mean in "if there's nothing wrong with it you won't feel good taking it for free" but they wanted a good home for Daisy and they got one so they'll be happy.

Nice tidy little car for a freebie, looking forward to a full review.
Excellent episode! Looks like the Sirion is a good’n, and I look forward to future adventures.
Fantastic little cars. Well done Ian.
Congratulations @Hubnut on your new car. Our 2005 Sirion is a firm favourite. The little engine in Miss Daisy sounds glorious.
brilliant video... brightened up a dull evening nicely, thanks!
What a lovely purchase! Brings back memories to me as well because I owned one in the same colour, albeit with the 1.3 litre engine. I hope you will enjoy many happy miles with her!
What a lovely car , and lovely gift !
Fantastic journey brings back memories of buying cars then the adventure home, in an untested vehicle, oh the amount of trust we used to place in people, brilliant please more road trips thank you again 😁👍
What a little belter! Awesome colour too. Maybe there's an intermittent fault, maybe not but at least you got it back to base without drama.
Great little car! I took one for a test drive when it was just released. A manual.. I thrashed it... I really had a blast in it!
The Berlingo and now this. You're on a roll with good buys Ian!
Great little car Ian. It looks so clean!
You just can't beat small Japanese cars. What a gift.
That's a great car you've been given for free, nice addition to the fleet, may become a daily driver
Aw what a great little car. If a car is going to have a load of adventures and some love and care then the Hubnut world is ideal! Look forward to seeing those adventures 😀
Another great video looking forward to your adventures driving Miss Daisy! You just couldn't refuse her!!!
That car is so so HubNut! Great acquisition!
Nice little run around.Hope you enjoy miss daisey. All the best
Absolutely brilliant video Ian 👍what a beautiful looking car and auto that's even more luxury brilliant
Nice to see HubNut driving round my neck of the woods. And love that you pinged up to say '10 miles took 1 hour' as it reminds me that the rest of the country doesn't see this as normal!
"Oh, look! Some Nissan... erm... is that a Serena? Followed by some Porsche thing..." EVERY run-of-the-mill car KZreadr wouldn't have bat an eyelid on the Serena and would've concentrated 100% on the Porsche! 😂 That's why I love your channel!
Excellent Ep, thank you.
A free car!!! and not only free but a really good simple daily driver, congrats man
I always liked these cars and nearly bought one a few years ago (also automatic)... Regret not doing so! Look forward to seeing the future adventures you'll have together.
Glad you got back ok with no dramas to the car Ian 👍👌👍
Thoroughly enjoyed watching the collection caper Ian and Carly, hope you both get a lot of enjoyment out of Miss Daisy
What a Cracking car to get for free, I very much look forward to seeing updates and any issues you might have if any. It's a Daihatsu so not alot can really go wrong mechanically. This was from a Time when the Japanese where at their Peak in Engineering.
Looks like you have a good one there. Seems to go well. Most small 4 speed automatics need 3rd gear to keep going along at motorway speeds with an incline or headwind. It will be interesting to see what welding it's had.
Lovely addition to the fleet. Gorgeous colour.
Oh I do like a good adventure, very enjoyable video Ian thank you
What a little beauty, a fine addition to the fleet.
A free car and a Daihatsu to boot. No wonder you had to have it. Really looking forward to seeing how this one goes. 🤞
Thanks for the amazing video kept me engrossed to the end.
Really enjoyed and this is the 1st video I have viewed an actual premiere. Used to be a few in the Scottish Borders but all rusted away.
Still 1972 tubes in London. And they’re the nicest on the whole London Underground network.
Gonna miss driving past this, papped it myself not long ago. But i’m more than happy to see it’s fallen into the right hands.
Congratulations on your new motor - it looks like a good ‘un!
Cracking little car. I really like the Sirion, they’re a pretty little car. Miss. Daisy certainly seems to drive fine. Hopefully rust won’t be a serious problem despite the fact that she has had extensive welding carried out for the MOT.
Lovely Little Car ...I'll be getting outta London too very soon ..enjoy Miss Daisy
thank you Ian for another 5 star video, what a lovely colour that car is painted in to might I add.
When you said you were picking up a car that didn't like hills, I was imagining the queue behind you on the Severn crossing! That car looks like a little peach!
Lovely little car, send the lady some flowers and chocolates x
I've often found you can obtain a new lease of life from old wiper blades if you use some ScotchBrite and run that along the wiping edge. Seems to clean all the built-up grime and exposes a new edge of the rubber. It goes without saying also, that the glass must be spotless for any wiper to work efficiently.
Yay, a Sirion! Used to drive them all the time during 6 very happy years working in a Daihatsu dealer, fabulous little cars, so miss Daihatsu, always made quirky little cars, happy days. Enjoy Miss Daisy Ian 👍
A great video yet again. I really like your work Ian.
Enjoyed that ian, the little 3 cylinder sounds lovely, I owned 2 charades back in the 80s fun little car 👍
What a bargain - fab car for mrs hubnut maybe? Looks pretty good - well done on the mad long drive!!
What a little sweetie. Miss Daisy I mean. Congrats on a problem free caper
I did Worcester to Wick in the 2CV on the same day. Took 13hrs to do 600 miles. I often did Aberdeen to Worcester/ Worcester to Aberdeen, 450 miles, in the 2CV when I lived in the Shetland Islands. Best time I did was 7 1/2 hours.
Here we go...AGAIN! Chuckle chuckle. This is why we luv Hub Nut. 😂
I absolutely love the Silly One! And Brixton?? Jesus you're brave 😅
Now THIS is excellent!
Great to see another car collection caper achieved. Nice little car, will be interesting to follow its progress and see which bits break, though as a Japanese car that probably won't be much.
That's a tidy train journey mate ! Can't wait to see this !
Interesting video even without any issues, you are a brave man, greeting from Spain.
Ooh I'm jealous- thats tidy. Your old yellow Sirion persuaded me into a Cuore (been with the channel from wayy back) - those Daihatsus are such fun little cars that thrum their heart out and make you smile... I'd love another.

Love the random car collection capers on Hubnut 👍
Power folding mirrors! Didn't expect that! What a luxury! 😳
Brilliant video Ian and I absolutely love the little Sirion 👍🙂👍
Anticipating what silliness awaits. I'm sticking to my guess of some terrible kit car! 🤣
Your videos are always intriguing entertaining and relaxing all in one thank you for all these sensations.
those old train looked like valley lines and yes old but they are busy sorting lines for new trains (eventually)...... That car has been loved , nice n clean, hard to criticise something that when you compare to other cars of its year is quite luxury in terms of toys
Welcome Miss Daisy, she looks lovely and didn't let you down on you maiden voyage together. May you enjoy many, many miles together. I can certainly sympathise with the previous owner, I've done the same where I've given a vehicle away as it had a fighting chance of being used and maintained as a complete vehicle vehicle rather than someone who took it to break it for spares.

Indeed. I kept my 18 year old car for a bit when I got a newer one recently, but it wasn't practical - I couldn't afford to run two cars and it developed minor faults from disuse. In the end, I donated it to the 'Giveacar' charity (who I can heartily recommend) to benefit the International Red Cross, but with very mixed feelings after 14 years of ownership. The collection trailer guy told me it'd probably be broken up for spares which I found a bit sad. However, I was very happy to recently find on the DVLA site that it was taxed and on the road again. So someone had bought it from the scrapyard and fixed it up.

@@frglee It's brilliant to hear this, one of the vehicles I gave away was restored as well, I'm unsure about the other one. I know some of the spares hadn't been made for a decade and were quite difficult to come by. To be honest that one was on its last legs when I bought and it was over ten years old then it but I had it fixed up, used it and kept it for 12 years. Part of me wants to check if it's still around on the DVLA website but the other part would prefer to remember it as it was without knowing.
Yes. Sirion. New fun times start here 😀.
Love that Maynard's cherry drops red paint job
As a born and bred south Londoner, this collection caper did make me chuckle! Ive driven all these roads so many times.
