I grew up in the Pilbara (Tom Price) from 1968 to 1985. Mum used to pack up the esky, Dad would come off his last day shift and we were off to Hamersley Gorge. We would jump out of the car, run down for a swim, jump off the rocks and slide down the waterfalls then run back up the top for dinner. We would sleep all the way home... fantastic! As kids we were so fortunate with the many, many incredible experiences we had camping at all the gorges, Millstream, Wittenoom etc. I absolutely love your channel!!! I look forward to your next episode :-)

Re Mattress Options.Check Gumtree or Facebook marketplace for a secondhand Tempur mattress. You can cut them to size easily with a large serrated knife. Best thing I’ve ever done. Picked up a queen for $300.
Love your trip, we travelled around in an old toyota hiace with our son Spencer when he was two years old, 2001 getting him back for school at Avalon beach aged five, to see you doing the same trip with three kids is awsome. love your missus saying , ( i didn't know that.) is classic, My wife retires this year and we are planning another trip in our small delica 4x4 heading from Sydney ( Avalon Beach ) to Mount Isa , Darwin and then West the way you are going, thanks for your amazing videos and your beautiful family, never know we may cross paths some day. Bob and Barbara.🤠🚐
I left western Australia 20yrs ago to return to the UK . Your travels make me think ? Why would I do that !!!!!!!! Sitting writing this listening to the wind and rain battering the house !!!

Great to see young Jack doing some filming and cometary, when we stayed at Port Hedland we had metal tie downs under the caravan in one of the parks so in a cyclone they tie the van down to stop it blowing away. Looking forward to the next one, very very special place in Australia. Thanks guys.

Hey guys. These videos of the Pilbara are great. I miss that area. So unique. If you get a chance, head to a place called Running waters (21º 41' 3.99" S 121º 07' 24.95" E) it’s out from marble bar. Beautiful spot. Also, I’m sure it’s changed but the iron clad hotel in MB makes the best steak burger in the norwest. When I went there, a real long time ago - the bar was so well used that you could carve your name into it using your finger nail. They didn’t care either Have a good trip.
Midgies... yah... can be painful... The factory matress in my vans been brilliant.....inner spring thing im sure youd get at 65 naps ( you know the store i was referring too ).. mine is an odd shape to fit the double bed, however, its a known brand.
Just awesome guys! Great work on the camera Jack! Keep them coming🤙🤙

I didnt see a jetty at Port Sampson. There used to be a fish and chip shop at the start of the jetty. Went out some way and you could catch almost anything off it. There was a big hammer head sharp called whiskers due to all the trace wires hanging out his mouth LOL. I should mention this was in the late 70's early 80's.
Very good info on the free camps, heading up north next year, keep up the good work

I got attack by midges big time a couple of weeks ago camping at Maitland River (near Karratha). Our phamarists recommend SOOV (Haemorrhoids ointment) for the itch and non drowsy Anti-histamine for the relief of itchy skin. Trust me it work wonders. Thanks for the great camping spots around Karratha. We did go to Cleaverville last weekend for a picnic, lucky we did not get attack by midges.

Baby oil is great of drowning sandflies mate. It's really good for your skin too, unlike chemical sprays. We used to mix Dettol and baby oil (4:1 oil/dettol) for sandflies and mosquitoes when we lived at McLeay island. Bloody sandflies were killer there!

hi guys a couple of tips for you and anyone we use a vacuum sealer with reusable bags. For lunches meat I cook a chicken in the Ziggy, simply get a can of beer drink a little out of the can then shove the can up the chooks bum, have him sit up in the Ziggy with herbs oil over the skin . Cook for a bout and hour either eat for a dinner of use the chicken for sangas for the next few days.
Looking forward to seeing your Karijini adventures! As a local the only thing that annoys me about people free camping is the amount of rubbish and toilet paper you see in the Bush 😞

They are expensive but they are seriously that comfy you will likely take it from the van to the house. I belive they are a big deal in Europe. mine cost $2800

There’s a lot more to Karratha and the Point Sampson area. Seems to pass straight through. My next trip I will spend a week around there. Wonder they will stop at Whim Creek

The red colour represents the waterline on the ship. The red part is antifoul so that marine growth does not start making the ship maintain it's smooth flow through the water. One of those ships can carry upwards of 150,000 tonnes of Iron Ore.
