Free Camping at Ocotillo Wells SVRA & Clark Dry Lake (Borrego Springs)
Ocotillo Wells SVRA:

You can camp here for 30 days within any calendar year. It can be noisy at night due to loud music and dirt bikes. On two of our three stays here, the nights were peaceful and the stars were brilliant. The other time, we were woken up by dirt bikes and loud music. We take the chance because the setting is so beautiful, there are flush toilets, and coin op showers. For a more peaceful location, check out Hawk Canyon in Anza Borrego State Park or Clark Dry Lake which is just outside of Borrego Springs.

Clark Dry Lake:

This is a great BLM free camping spot where tons of snowbirds park in the winter time. It is a large area so you don't feel too closed in, and it is close to Borrego Springs. The public library has fast, and free wifi and the new building is beautiful. There are also two grocery stores in town and gas stations. We will definitely be back since it is such a peaceful and convenient spot.

Thanks for watching
I just got back from Ocotillo Wells this afternoon after a week end of off roading their, Believe me it is not a camp site for nomads, on a normal week-end the place is packed with off road vehicles. ATV's, UTV's dirt bikes, there is no peace and quiet, some campers find it necessary to play their music loud until 2am. As soon as the sun comes up the dirt bikes and quads side by sides start their engines and it doesn't stop until after mid-night. It wasn't to bad this week end because of the rain and Super Bowl, but normally the place is packed.

There are two alternatives: Hawk Canyon and Clark Dry Lake. Thanks for watching!
Both of these places are beautiful. There are pros and cons with each. I like the bathrooms at the one but like that there are no atvs at the other one. I hope you are have a blast in Baja.

We’re really blessed in Northern America. Wide open spaces, ever changing landscapes, and of course, the atlantic, gulf and pacific coasts.
Very nice. 😀😎😎

@@DoriMena We are doing fine. The weather here in California has been cold an wet. We began to worry when you went five days between post. We enjoy your videos and you both are doing a great job of taking us along. Be safe and stay in touch.
Be safe..would be nice to have a drone to see the scenery and other areas from a sky perspective:)

Hi Dori and Mena, you will need to update or edit your video to reflect that the use of drones is not permitted since 2016 in both Ocotillo Wells SVRA, as well as Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (which includes Clark Dry Lake and Hawk Canyon where you did some drone shots as well). See policy here: ohv.parks.ca.gov/pages/1170/files/555-16-01-Drone_Feb2016.pdf

(250 grams). They are exempt from FAA regulations as long as they are flown in a safe way in an uncontrolled airspace that does not interfere with other aircraft. The FAA gives some examples of UAS types that do not require registration that are compared with similar types (heavier weight) that do require registration.
Not a “NON OFF-ROADER” friendly recreational area. This is an OFF-ROAD PARK.

OMG! Ocotillo Wells is an off road recreation area. Why would you camo there without a bike and then complain about the noise. Next time camp in Borrego near palm canyon camp ground. Bikes aren’t allowed.
