Great to hear! Good job Jefferson County, you’ve really been making progress these past few years. Between the new JCIB in progress and this I’m very impressed. Also the new McCalla Elementary was a welcomed addition and a lovely school!

My daughter just asked me the same question. During COVID when lunches were free she said the food was horrible without a lot of variety.

I agree, late registration last year and walked the cafeteria as part of the tour. Only food available was cinnamon rolls covered in glaze or processed cereals for breakfast. Hoping it was an off day but there should be some introduction of eggs, sausage, bacon, and fruit in the morning. Refined sugar and candy should not be a staple in our kids’ diet.

Sounds like you'd do better paxking a lunch for your child if you're worried or trying to deter others from being optimistic . This is great news. And fir sone kids they dont eat square meals everyday or any meals. This is a great opportunity for them. For others who don't want to take advantage of the free meals or dont want them, they can continue to bring their own and not complain about something that is blessing others
