FREE 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 Z45 GMC Sierra Denali Adaptive Ride (ARC) Suspension Bypass -Xineering

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

You CAN remove the Z45 shocks from your Sierra Denali for FREE! It will NOT change the stock 98mph speed limiter.
But it does show that annoying "Service Suspension" message on your dashboard on startup until you press OK. So you can press OK every time your truck starts (no biggie) OR follow along with this video to bypass the message for FREE!
DISCLAIMER: This method is a little labor intensive and will render your struts as standard struts once the actuator coils are removed. But you don't need those stock shocks anyway!
About RPO Z45 Adaptive Ride Control
2019 thru 2022 GM Trucks use active valve shocks
- GMC Sierra - Denali
- Chevrolet Silverado - High Country
The active suspension actuator coils are integrated in to the shock body.
The Z45 system operates by charging the coil at all times which is why an aftermarket 'bypass kit' would require a LARGE heat sink. Turns out YOU already have everything you need to bypass them.
By removing the actuator coil from the shaft, bolting the assembly together, and mounting them back under the vehicle, the Suspension Control Module (SCM) thinks the entire active shocks/struts are still present.

So my 22 sierra Denali was riding like a Cadillac when I first got it, now since I towed with it it’s been a rough ride stiff you can feel any bump only have 11k miles on it… would this fox that issue? Or can I reset the shocks damping system?

  • @xineering

If the ride height of your truck has changed any, you can try a "Ride Height Trim/Relearn procedure" from a dealer or a shop with an Autel, Launch, or SnapOn scan tool that can do it. This will reset the Suspension Control Modules (zero ride height) that it bases Active Suspension adjustments off of. Resetting the new zero ride height can smooth out the ride and reduce the amount of adjustments performed by the SCM. However, if the shocks are actually just shot, then replacing them with new shocks would be best. If you get non-active (Z45) shocks then you will need to remove the solenoid coils off your stock ones and plug them into your chassis harness (like in this video) then bolt up your new shocks. Let us know if you have any questions. All the best! -Team Xineering

@@xineering I recently bought a 2020 Denali. This suspension will be towing along a 7,000Lb trailer with 700lb of tongue weight, I had a 2014 Sierra and it towed it just fine. With the 20 have the 6.2 and 10speed I can only imagine it will be slightly better. Even using a load dist hitch our trailer tows nice. IS the new ARC shocks okay? Is there anything to know before a long road trip? I have been following for a while and appreciate your videos! Thanks-Keith

@@ThreeDayRV Our 2019 Denail and 2021 Denail Ultimate both drove great as daily drivers! Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of tow experience with the ARC vehicle's. Any towing capacity will be dictated by the spring rate in the rear. You can check out this PDF (Pg. 15) from GM regarding any specs for trailering. www.gmc.com/content/dam/gmc/na/us/english/index/about/trailering-towing/02-pdfs/GMTB20CT300_2020_GMC_Trailering%20Guide.pdf

Hey @KeithThreeDayRV, Towing is usually dependent on the spring rate, not the shock. As for specs I would consult a GMC dealer on the specifics... Unfortunately, we did not push our Sierra to any limits as you have listed. Hope this helps!

If you are removing the shocks then yes you can remove the solenoid coil from your stock shocks like in the video and it will work. The 'arm on the upper control arm' is the ride height sensor. You will need to leave the sensor plugged in for the SCM to read it's voltage. You can zip tie the arm in the near center position (2.5V) to keep the SCM happy. Feel free to give us a call or email if you have any other questions. Thanks!

As a side note: When removing the stock Z45 shocks the "Service Suspension" message will come up once per start and can be cleared with a press of the OK button on the steering wheel. It does not affect the trucks factory speed limiter (98MPH) or engine power/drivability. Keep the questions coming! All the best!

i am trying to diagnosis a vibration above 65 mph if i remove the fuse under the hood will it default the suspension to a normal full soft setting? My dealer could not duplicate vibration, i installed a new drive shaft after eliminating tire balance tripple checking roadforce balance, the intermittent above 65mph vibration is still there, my thought was the shocks stiffen up above a certain speed but without communicating with the programmer of the suspension its just a guess so i want to try to disable it temperately without causing any damage.

  • @xineering

    @xineering

That sounds like a tough situation... You can always disable the system via the under hood fuse or unplugging the shocks. Then perform your speed test. Without power to the shocks, they should perform as standard struts. But you will have DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) Hope this helps! If you do plan on replacing the shocks we have a bypass kit now... so no need to rip apart your shocks :) kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYmNmtWsgtWeZKg.html

We would say no, it is not standard or an available option for the AT4. The AT4 comes standard with RPO Z7X Suspension, Off-Road with 2" factory installed lift and monotube shock According to the GMC online order guide (www.gmfleetorderguide.com/) Z45 is only standard on Denali models. Under AT4 it shows Z45 as unavailable. NOTE: 2019 and up trucks have RPO Z45 Suspension, Adaptive Ride Control (which is the successor to the truck 'magneride')

Congrats on the new truck! Yes this will be the only way we found to bypass the ARC... Some people put HUGE resistors under the truck. We did this aswell. During our testing, via a heat camera, found the resistors got hot enough to melt the plastic under the truck. This is the most cost effective and safe way to accomplish a bypass. We offer hardware kits on our website too: www.shocksims.com/valuemeals.html#!/2019-Sierra-Denali-Z45-Hardware-Kit/p/486625232/category=127526635

2 to 4 Ω between terminal 1 & terminal 2 of the Shock Absorber Actuator Warning: The SCM has the ability to put up to 5 amps of current thru any resistor connected in place of the shock absorber actuator. Do not put a resistor across the terminals as the SCM will charge the 'shock absorber actuator' with 1.0A of current at vehicle startup to hold the actuator neutral. Press the OK button for now we are almost done creating an OBD solution for the 2019-2022.5 Sierras. :) Keep the questions coming.
