Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eparately Album Review
Музыка
Over the years Freddie Gibbs has become known for a lot of things. His beef with rappers. His insane sense of humor. And, of course...his rapping ability. After putting his stamp on the game with some highly successful projects with Madlib, his name has shot to the top of the list of the best indie rappers in the game. Gibbs's fifth solo album sees him moving away from producers like Madlib and Alchemist. Was this a risky move? Was he able to keep that sound and energy that his fans have grown to love him for? Or did he prove that he needs those producers in his corner in order to release quality work? Listen to the fellas discuss it and then leave your thoughts in the comment section!

I liked that Freddie included featured artists from his previous work, with Raekwon and Scarface (Piñata), Paak and Pusha T (Bandana), and Ross (Alfredo). Same with Madlib, The Alchemist and Kaytranada on production. It adds to Feefo’s point of the album feeling like culmination of Freddie’s career so far.

Freddie has also previously worked with Pusha T (they got 2 other songs together) and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League as well. Just adding on to what you put down 💯

Blackest in the room after the beat switch was something else 🔥
Yall are bugging about Feel no Pain. Thats one of the best tracks on there. I didn’t like the album first listen, but the more I sit and smoke with it, Freddie got another one i’m gonna be playing for years
Man, I'm shocked you guys didn't like Feel No Pain, that track is absolutely brilliant. Such a unique musical offering.

The beat was amazing. The only thing is that I think Anderson Paak’s verse was average. But Freddie goes hard and this is one of my fav Raekwon features in a really long time

Bro is the best rapper of the 2010s easy, my highest played every year. Since 2 weeks after Str8 Killa No Filla dropped, he been my favorite . He don't miss
“Grandma’s Stove” is the best song hands down, Freddie speaking from the heart then Musiq Soulchild on the outro 🔥
For the Migos Quavo is Takeoff's uncle, and Offset is Quavo's cousin
another solid album from freddie
Been waiting on this review, you guys are dope
I'm glad that he delivered with SSS, given all the crazy shit he got himself into, prior to this coming out . But at the same time, something is lackin on this for me & I won't return to it like that .
Classic Album by Freddie. All the features worked . This was a good blend of old school with new school artist. SSS is great display of range. The Musiq feature is timeless
I think this one a classic. It has all the elements of every past album he did.
Need to watch the casino promos , thats how it ties in to the album
James Blake deserves more attention in the community.
Very good album with some great production. Another top tier project from Freddie
Blackest in the room gave me an epiphany. Freddie top 5 right now at minimum. Album was great. Definitely an AOTY contender.
Love when all of you guys are together
Feefo bugging. The song with Anderson .Paak & Raekwon is my favorite track.
The album had a casino theme to it. Idk if they see the album promo commercials.
Midwestboxframecadillacmusic, Str8 Killa No Filla, Cold Day In Hell????? Jammin them underground classics back then I wasn't surprised when Pinata came out it was gonna make him a bigger artist! Alfredo tipped him over!
It’s been so insane for hip hop lately. Can’t wait to hear the Billy Woods and the Open Mike Eagle reviews
Freddie don't really don't miss. Another 🔥 project, been on repeat since release! Also Feel No Pain is AMAZING!
Another solid Freddie album and another great review from DEHH.
I’m glad that DEHH keeping it real as always
Great review guys
DEHH got perfect timing just took my lunch break lol.
Really good album from Freddie. Space Rabbit and Grandma’s Stove were my favourites
Freddie can go on so many tracks. He is def one of the best around today. Hope he in more ears off this project and if they go back through his catalog he will def have more fans.
Album of the year for me!

Yea the more I’ve listened to this album, I can’t think of a single album I’ve played more. Definitely album of the year for me too
I am not a Freddie Gibbs Stan but this album is album of the year for me. Freddie got me listening to Money Bag Yo and Offset on a track and I didn’t turn it off because I am not a fan of either of them. Not saying their verses was great but I could tolerate them and not be turned off from listening to the rest of the songs.

Dope video, Its cool I'm seeing others with the same thoughts I'm glad I ain't crazy lol Gibbs one of my favorite but this project was mid, didn't start for me till lobster omelette
The sequencing on this album is phenomenal, in a lacklustre 18-24 months of mainstream rap albums, this is a refreshingly cohesive album that will be hard to knock. The production is first class, but the honesty in the writing over rap beats is just A1. Space Rabbit, Gold Rings, Space Vision, Grandmas Stove are my Favourites. Album of the Year sorry Push!
Very good album. Also prodigy's Hegelian Dialectic

I took the hotel thing like the theme of Hotel California song. But adding the whole car ride thing with the phone calls and the soul aspect of it, It’s more deeper. The track with Anderson and Rae was great but the verses were hella short
Is it me or does Feefo change his opinion when someone says they didn’t fuck w/ it
In for another banger here my friends
Hoping to see a Kenny Mason review, loved the new project.

freddie trying to hit that note at the beginning had me weak
Not his best but it’s a very solid project. He showed great versatility. Also totally agree with you myke on feel no pain. I love that track. Beat was super different but in a good way and anderson and raekwon were dope on it. Fav track overall has to be blackest in the room cause of that nasty beat change. Alc has been on such a ridiculous run it’s crazy.
Grandma’s stove didn’t get the attention I thought it was gonna get. That song was very deep and the production was great too
Another stellar project from Mr.Gibbs.
Raekwon sounded great to me. Danny Ainge is still involved in the NBA and Jordan will always be a reference so I don't get that point
The moneybagg yo song/video was nostalgic to me. It reminded me off a song from the 90s

Myke taking a nap in the middle of the review is crazy 😂😂
I’ve been playing this album like crazy I do agree Too Much and Pain & Strive are the weakest songs but I don’t hate it nor skip it. Outside of that every song hits for me I do wish the verses were longer on Feel No Pain though.
Space Rabbit is my fav song on a solid 4 mic album
Ngl the Bonus Éditions makes that album even BETTER
This is how Slaughterhouse's debut on Shady should've sounded

Man….this is a top 5 rap album of the year for me. Great production! Freddie is rapping his ass off again. Plus I love the fact that he took chances and went for a more commercial polish sound, showing his versatility! Best albums of the year so far are from: Gibbs JID Black Thought Ransom Lupe

Hope to see Rome Streetz KISS THE RING review 🔥🔥
I loved this album! It felt like the trap sound Freddie had attempted earlier in his career, but much more refined and improved.
Gold rings so good my Patna blessed me wit it last year I wanted to leak soooo bad
Freddie one of the dopest been one of my favorites for a while now
It’s crazy how I agreed with myke the most and the least lol. He was the only that liked too much which I find the main melody super catchy. But he didn’t care for gold rings instrumental which is my favorite track BECAUSE of the instrumental lol
Y’all better review Rome Streetz album Kiss The Ring 🔥🔥🔥

this is rap album of the year for me, im surprised they werent more enthusiastic about this project. Dang near no skips. Grandmas stove aint get the love it deserved.

Top 3 or 4 Freddie for me. Rabbit Vision one of my fav songs of the year. And Feel No Pain was AWESOME, shit felt like some classic Wu.
If y'all checked out the promo and ads leading up to the album, y'all would have a different appreciation for it 💯 It hits a lot differently in that context.

This was no commercial album at all its only one song Too much and in Cincinnati I don't even hear that on the radio
This was a great album, in a top 10 this is like 6 or 7 for me. I thought majority of the production was great. I agree Ross verse wasn't amazing and could've been better but Freddie and the beat save it. Wasn't crazy about the Raekwon/paak song or pusha song at first but they grew on me. I depise that zipper bagz song. That song plus the offset and moneybag Yoo songs, those 3 together were the low point for this album. Solid effort, not my fav which I realized too but on shuffle this fits right in with his discography
Are y’all doing Kiss the Ring?
Crazy thing about this album was I saw One Night In Miami and then Blackest In The Room came out
He’s been referencing bone.” I’m a lethal smoking warrior”
I copped it and it's dope asf. Gangsta Gibbs has never put out anything wack!!!
Favorite Freddie Gibbs albums in order from what I've heard 1. Piñata (One of the best albums I ever heard) 2. Bandana 3. You Only Live 2wice (Gets overlooked big time) 4. Pronto EP (Only 3 songs but amazing) 5. $oul $old $eparately 6. Shadow of a Doubt (had stronger moments then SSS but not as consistent) 7. Alfredo (Don't know why I don't love this much as eveyone else. Beats sound great) 8. Fetti 9. Freddie 10. Baby Face Killa 11. ESGN I listen to Alfredo like 3-4 times and don't put it as his number 3 project like most other people. It has a strong start but fades toward the middle and end for me. Freddie seem like he not rapping as good on that project then his other projects even though the beats are crazy. Maybe it's just me.
Zipper Bagz and Grandma’s Stove was beautiful
Please review meechy darko-gothic luxury solo album 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ken is talking that talk. Couldn’t agree more
To touch on what myke said about the Scarface verse,it is very old ,so old that scarface “forgot about that shit” freddie said scarface wanted him to even take it off lol
Thank you Ken. I thought I was losing my mind cause this one did NOT hit me the way his recent projects have hit. Like it's a decent record but it doesn't have the same hold that Alfredo, Freddie, and Bandana had when they come out
"Too Much" hits different on the album.
Lmaoo “Freddie” was with Kenny Beats so even before that
Really trying to figure out how y'all ain't reach 1 million subs yet
Bro feel no pain is fireeeeee though. The beat is so dope to me! Could have sworn feefo would have liked it!
Idk what they talking about this definitely better then the Freddie album ill put this either 4 or 3 in his catalog
Damn feefo, those pants be tight
Why isn't Mike getting what "classic" is... Yeah they might sound outdated to today's standards but it still super fun hearing an old school verse.
Man i wasn't able to get into this album. It makes me feel weird, because i am a huge Freddie fan. Alfredo and Banada stays on replay for me to this day. But for me this album is way behind those two. Esp "Alfredo."
this is his best album in my opinion Not one wack track If we going off preferences Every single album in music history regardless of genre we can all pick a song we prefer over the others it is what it is
It took yall long enough with this Gibbs project!!
I agree with Ken on this one
I don't listen to Freddie like that so I'm kind of ignorant on his rap style but does he do the triplet flow a lot? It was all over this album and it made me not want to finish it, I never liked that flow (it's why I never got into Migos.)
Decent album. Freddie is definitely amongst the elite. Some standout tracks, but the features seemed phoned in to me and the album seemed a bit all over the place
