This is a treasure in all the Sculpture videos because you can really learn from a master. I hope some day i could go, learn and come back to Colombia, where there is so much to tell by this endless art. Meanwhile, this one and all your videos are a great inspiration. Thanks to the National Sculpture Society !!

35:27 My grandfather and great grandfather were stone workers and sculptors of memorials. They got up each morning early to start up the fireplace, in order to temper their instruments. They also was making the charcoal - in big fire piles. Without charcoal they couldn't temper their instruments, without tempering them each morning they couldn't work on the stones. They also was quarrying the stones alone. Stoneworking from the past is astounding hard work.

How did you drill a hole in that copper nail? You didn’t remove it in your demonstration so I’m assuming you drilled a hole in it.

It wasn't a nail, it was a tack...tacks have a broad head. It was also made of copper so it would be easier to drill into. He says he used a "hand drill" but today I would use a dremel tool or a drill driver with a very small drill bit.
