That was my first thought, too. Bobby says some interesting things. But I do think Fred and Guy look somewhat similar on the board. Just the way they hold themselves, how they approach things and how they land.

Dude I loved when the workshop did those colored boards. Where the layers of the wood had the same color as the graphic. It was such a nice aesthetic. Especially when you do flip tricks and you see the beautiful colors, it’s really cool

I love Fred, he was my first favorite skater ever. I grew up skating LOVE every weekend in the mid 90’s, and Fred was our version of Guy Mariano. He was sooo good and ahead of his time. He was hella tech, skated rails, skated transitions. I’m so glad he’s doing better, I hate to see him with such bad black circles around his eyes. Stick to the weed and Heineken Fred, love that guy.

Thanks for this! Fred Gall was the sickest. These Bobshirt interviews are amazing. I fully owned a copy of the Sub Zero “Real Life” video. I got it at BC Surf & Sport in the Southwest Plaza Mall (Littleton, CO), same shop I got 101 “Snuff” from around the same time. It was the only skate shop in the Denver metro area at the time, until about a year later when the older homies opened Brothers Boards in my hometown of Aurora, CO. Totally had that issue of Thrasher too. I loved the Sub Zero video and along with the 411 footage and Eastern Exposure 2, it turned me onto Fred Gall’s skating and made him one of my favorite dudes of that era. Even rocked my Half-Cabs like his, with the tongue out and shit. Haha.
