The moment an innocent christmas film scene almost smashes a 27 year old guy like me into tears! :(Quite simply one of the most beautiful film scenes I have ever seen! The footage of all the kids and families opening their presents, the feeling of pure love you can sense in all of that ... It not only made me nostalgic of my childhood (which is something usual in me) but actually made me want to form a family of my own someday ... Although with my luck, I am unsure I ever will ... Maybe this uncertainty is what made the FEELS so huge. :(Anyway ... Merry Christmas to all!25-12-2016

Throughout the movie, Fred felt he didn't deserve to be loved because as a child and throughout his life, nothing he did seemed good enough. He was always compared to his brother and I assume made him feel inadequate. At the end, when Santa told him he was the best big brother he could ever ask for, made Fred feel needed....therefore, loved. That part gets to me every time.

Like others here, I get all verklempt at this, both at the song and the reconciliation between Fred and Nick. A beautiful scene in an under-appreciated movie.

This is the most wonderful scene ever. I never usually tear up, but this scene does it. I remember being a kid.
This movie came out the year my little brother passed. This scene shook me to the core then, still does…
‘to the snow globe!’ tears begin. when you think you’ve regained composure, the shot of his hand touching fred’s shoulder plays. tears again.
I always start to tear up around 0:50 when Silent Night starts to play. Such a beautiful scene!

The scene seems like a nexus for my entire life as watching it and hearing Silent Night pulls every memory of my childhood and all of the Christmases spent with my loving family into focus all at once; it's immersive for me.

Absolutely wonderful 💕 RIP Sinead♥️
Even though Fred Claus isn't a Santa-centric film, Paul Giamatti's Santa Claus is outstanding and memorable. "Silent Night" playing over these scenes gets right to the heart of what Christmas is for so many.

I'm 31 now, also have a 6 month baby girl myself. Growing up my parents would fight all the time(sad when you have to call the cops on your parents)i always wanted to have a Christmas that you see in the movies. Seeing the joy and love within the families. This scene gets me every time, and when he says "your the best big brother"......my baby girl will have the best Christmas I never got.

The forced contrast between the activity, muted for no sound, and the ridiculously beautiful ambient music gets me every damn time.
I watched this in the theaters with my wife and kids, older brother had passed away less than 2 months at the time and this scene just about wrecked me, could not blink talk or even look left or right when he told him he was the best big brother anyone could ever ask for, still very powerful even after all these years, great movie.

Yes. Hearing this song, even thinking of it actually, does the trick. I immediately summon memories of Christmas Past and now departed loved ones who showed _me_ how Christmas was to be observed. Best wishes.
Best part was the line Paul Giamatti. Said:You are the best big brother anyone could ever ask for. Brings a tear to me Everytime because my passed away of leukemia. It's been 4 years now still thinking him. Merry Christmas. and Happy New year.

Silent Night is sung so tenderly. Like your mother singing this to you as a child; stroking your head softly as you're falling asleep. RIP mom, see you again someday.

Best Christmas movie in the world
Throughout the movie, Fred felt he didn't deserve to be loved because as a child and throughout his life, nothing he did seemed good enough. He was always compared to his brother and I assume made him feel inadequate. At the end, when Santa told him he was the best big brother he could ever ask for, made Fred feel needed....therefore, loved. That part gets to me every time.

I remember seeing this at the cinema, the entire cinema fell silent. It just captures everything so well.
I would work all year tirelessly and without fail making toys if at the end on Christmas morning I could see the look on their faces when they get it :')
RIP Sinead O'Connor. Hers was the best version of "Silent Night" and it truly reflected the nature of this film's ending.

And she was Irish and born in Ireland to just like me.
The way Santas wife just looks at the 2 brothers truly together for the first time is just something.
I don't know what it is about this scene... I don't consider myself to be a "cryer" by any means, but as a father seeing how happy the kids are on Christmas morning along with this version always brings out the water works. Guaranteed to make me cry every single time - and i love it.
The look he gives at 2:27 is powerful and says so much. It shows how he has changed, grown and how it came through love, service, understanding and forgiveness. This movie is great but moving and powerful as well.

watching this scene every year its such a heart warming scene i def remember days of being a kid again opening my first gift i still get so emotional from this scene
To quote L. Frank Baum's LIfe and Adventures of Santa Claus: There is nothing more beautiful in this world than a happy child.
2:29 that stare says it all. Mission fucking accomplished 💪🏻💪🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻 I love this scene so much, and silent night is just perfect, whoever decided to cue it in at 0:50 deserves an Oscar, so emotional.

This is where I went to the movies with the school trip, one of my friends told me Santa isn’t real. I was shocked and disbelief. But in my heart I still do believe him and Jesus will forever be in my heart! ❤️🎄🎁🎁🎁
Say what you want about the movie, this scene is beautiful, I like the movie as a whole, I think it’s funny, sincere and fun. But this scene is great and always brings a tear to my eye
Best scene ever in any holiday movie. Every element comes together. Makes me wish there was real magic.
I love this movie!🎄😍
Luv this movie. Up there with the xmas classics
Like others here, I get all verklempt at this, both at the song and the reconciliation between Fred and Nick. But what intensifies it for me is when Mrs. Claus, who has been angry at Fred (with good reason), sees the brothers reconciled and, for what I think is the first time in the movie, smiles. A beautiful scene in an under-appreciated movie.
My favorite movie all time is Christmas vacation. This however is an absolutely beautiful scene in any Christmas movie there is
This just shows that the impossible can be done. As parents we have to keep that magic alive and well for our children!
This scene is very touchy. Family opening Christmas presents 🎁 ♥️.

My all time favorite Christmas movie. Gets Everytime.
"Theres no bad kids Nick. They're all good kids"
The best part of Christmas is watching the joy of kids big and small open up a gifts on Christmas. But best Christmas gift ever is from God who blessed us with a baby boy that took the sins of the world on himself his name is Jesus Christ.
Probably the most beautiful version I’ve ever heard
such a great Christmas movie whit a powerful message as well and this version of Silent Night always gets me at the end....so very touching.
I’ll admit, this is a great scene
TO THE SNOW GLOBE! Great line!!!
I just love this scene from "Fred Claus"! The best part, no doubt. My favorite Christmas movie, and my favorite version of Silent Night.
goosebumps. every time.
Fred maybe an irresponsible person, but he did correct his errors and set things right.
only saw this recently and overall it was pretty decent, but this scene gave me chills and made it an instant classic for me.

This film may not be the best as far as Christmas films go, but damn if this scene isn't one of the best ever put to holiday cinema....
Paul's Santa is kind in how he helps Kevin's Clyde admit why he wanted the cape and then admits that he should have taken into account why Clyde was naughty in the first place and then makes up for it by giving him the gift.
My favorite Christmasmovie! :)
What a beautiful version of this song!
I loved this part.where Fred tells everyone, We did it despite everything.
Really does bring a tear to your eye.
This made me cry and touched my heart ❤️ I’ve been wanting kids since I was 15 years old I wanna wake up every Christmas morning and make my son happy like this😢😢😢😢😢
Best Christmas song ever. Sinead O’conner ❤️🎄🎁
Would give anything to be a kid at Christmas again
By far my favorite Christmas movie. Great performances from Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti
Sinead O"Connor is now singing this up in heave!!! May she rest in peace.
Merry Christmas in July 2023 everyone! Rest in peace, Sinead O’Connor!
BEST scene ever! I ugly cry every time! Esp. at the part between Santa and Fred!
Best part of the movie I love this secen
Such a quality Christmas movie and easily one of my top Christmas scenes, brothers reunited, sister in law now likes the brother. Old wounds healed and loads of love topped with a top notch song/music which sets the tone of the scene
best part i think is the superman cape
It always make me cry love this part of the movie.
Beautiful it’s not the presents but what Christmas is truly about is loving one and other mother father brothers sisters friends people you don’t even know loving one and other for that one day no matter what problems you all may have.
Everytime I watch this with my family and my brothers, I'm always the only one crying out of all three of them cause I've just wanted to be seen as an equal to them, I'm sure they think so but I've never been told by either one of them how much I mean to them. I just hope they love me as much as I love them, and while I'm writing this with the stress and depression I'm going through and also crying my eyes out, I just want to say I love you Justin and Chase❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are the best brothers anyone can ever ask for❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You know, as strange as it sounds, the one gift I have always wanted... is to be told "Kevin; you are the greatest big brother ever." Thats all I've ever wanted.
