Frat Brothers Fall In Love And Tie The Knot After Struggles With Coming Out and Drug Addiction

Troy Hallisey first met Henry in a college fraternity. It wasn’t until running into each other at a gay bar years later that they started dating. After the ultimate test of helping Henry overcome a drug addiction, the two ended up creating “a lasting lifelong friendship” by getting married.

My late spouse and I met at a friend's house in Muskegon, MI in 1974. We finally decided to live together in Detroit, MI...aka..Highland Park, MI We were together for 56 years. We married in Santa Fe, NM in 2004. i wouldn't change anything. We had a wonderful life.

I’m glad you met your husband and lived your lives for each other. My husband and I are from the Detroit area as well. We met in 1990, dated for 3 years, then moved into a small bungalow in Ferndale. After 11 years living together, he accepted a new career in Atlanta. We really didn’t want to leave Michigan, but we didn’t have a choice the way Michigan’s economy was starting to fall apart. After about 7 years we decided it was time to buy a house before the market became unaffordable again. We made the right choice. The only thing we regretted was in that time, both his and my parents passed away. It was difficult, but our parents knew we made the right choice. A few years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. It was the hardest point of our relationship. He stood by my side through everything. Two of my doctors told us they had never worked with a couple who were as devoted to each other as we are. This year will be 33 for us. We don’t know where the time went. I still remember him tapping my shoulder from behind, me turning around, and I was looking into the eyes of my future. He was smiling and held out his hand to shake mine and tell me his name. I’m so sorry you lost your husband, but without him, your life wouldn’t be what it became. I wish you much happiness and wonderful memories of the man you loved. If you lived in Palmer Park, I hope you two lived in one of the beautiful apartments behind Menjo’s. It was an exciting time to come out.

Sometimes the only way to help someone is to leave them. You csn stay and keeo picking them up again and again. Giving them resources and a place to stay. Or let them hit that true rock bottom. I've seen it a lot in my family and in my friend's group. People will take and take from you. Sometimes you hsve to separate, they even do this in interventions. They give an ultimatum. It's a classic intervention technique.

Oh yes, reformed drug addicts are worthy of all the respect in the world because we HAVE to respect they've 'been through a lot'. Eh, news flash, a lot of addicts put themselves in bad situations without any force or 'help' from others. Oh, you want empathy or allowances to be made for you because you spent the last ten years sniffing goodness knows what or smoking goodness knows what? No, no, NO! Get over yourself. (not directed at the author of the video, just ranting about the self-interest of a lot of addicts)
