    I love the way Daphne humanized Niles. That character would have been insufferable if not for their long, slow burn attraction. You got to see Niles with his defenses down, usually in the most hilarious way. That made him so endearing and that relationship the key to the show's success.

    I wondered how such a successful and 'eminent ' psychiatrist had so much time on his hands to arrive and sniff round Daphne. Sometimes gave me the creeps to see him simpering at the door with that humourless fixed 'smile' . Almost predatory. I'm amazed psychic loonie moonie didn't kick his gay hyde out the door. Poor Frasier, would luv to have seen him slam the door just once in his spite filled bro's face , thrown his obnoxious dad over the balcony, dropkicking eddie right behind him. Then dragging loonie into the bedroom.......before packing her suitcase and booting her @$$ out the door. Ahhh. Alone at last.

    One thing I never understood about this show was With Martin being a very observant veteran cop and Roz having experience with literally hundreds of relationships why was it 'only' Frasier who saw that Niles had a crush on Daphney for most of the series?

  • @meldme

    @meldme

    Martin knew about Niles’ crush on Daphne early on, but Martin being Martin, he tended not to mention anything. He told Niles in ‘Moon Dance’ (season 3) that he knew how he felt about her.

    Fanny in the USA means bum. Rear end. Backside. Fanny in Britain means.. what men don't have. This is an American show. Daphne may have been long enough in the States to have picked up the stateside idiom. Another case of two nations divided by a common language!

    I loved watching all these characters but especially Niles and Daphney. The only regret with the show is that towards the end when they end up married and together, the producers started changing Daphne into becoming more like Mel and Marris, I didn't like that.
