Fraser Island | Why not to Swimm in the Ocean at Kgari! | EP 1 | ALLOFFROAD

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We are once more on Fraser Island which is called Kgari by the indigenous people. It's hard to find a better location to combine awesome 4w sand driving, beaches with some of the whitest sand, pristine rainforest and crystal clear freshwater lakes and streams and a bit of indigenous and early settlesr history. It is also a paradise for fisherman and you will be surprised what kind of sharks they catch from the beach. Tiger Sharks, Hammerheads sharks and even Great White Sharks and we have it all on camera.
This time we explorer Frasers lesser known wild west coast and camp at Platypus Bay. watch 4 m Tiger sharks and Great white sharks being caught by team Mad Mullet where we swam hours before. Courtesy of Scott Mason we also have a look at how the west coast beaches can look at stormy king tide in January of 2018 several people lost their vehicles and boats and Scott and Family only saved the car narrowly. I will also explain how my new Revolution Power LiFePO4 auxiliary battery system together with my Redarc BCDC1240 and 150w Solar blanket performs.
Put it on the big screen, grab a beer sit back and enjoy....

So lucky seeing the big shark there although having dived/freedived with some where no burley/chum was used to excite them, I'd say you're relatively safe from attack in the water round there. It would be the jellyfish that keep me out tbh as they are definitely more likely to tag you out there. Best Fraser experience was 16 years ago for me having completely ignored the backpacker tour advice & driving all the way up to Sandy Cape in a Troopy with 8 people on board, just to get away from the other tour groups. I can confirm 7 people pushing is a successful way of traversing the Ngkala Rocks bypass in a battered old Troopy & definitely added to the adventure for all of us feeling like we'd completed our own mini Camel Trophy challenge. Been back a couple of times since then & being better prepared in both vehicle & experience, had very few dramas, so I look back on that trip with great fondness 😃

Can you swim in those inland lagoons? or is there crocs and bull sharks? Can you put up a sturdy tidal stick net (fish trap style_) to allow for safe shallow swimming (2' -3'max depth ). That 'king tide' would be a wake up. Good pointer!

Why rename? If any of the "original owners" are "Fair Dinkum honest" they should obviously first change and use their own "Black Names" instead of brandishing their "Culturally Expropriated" English names! But nope, instead they rather see everyone else being forced to see a change to their traditional and beautiful sounding name for this great sand island, Fraser Island! Go figure.... Sadly this "renaming" i.e. Orwellian "new-speak" is a shameless lie. Don't be stupid, the "new" sand island name (I will not speak), is a modern political fabrication that has never been known or used. No documentation, no verification or historic facts are provided because there are none. It is another "Black Emu fabrication" made up for populist political P.C. reasons. I speak the truth and I say that like Fraser Island, there are no other true names, only fantasies and modern P.C. fabrications. How could they? We all know that even today many traditionally living "bush babies" do not know their fathers name or have no birth certificates because their bush mothers didn't register the birth. Fraser Island is the only known good name of this great sand island and should remain so in memory of shipwrecked Eliza Anne Fraser who survived brutal enslavement and had her compatriots savagely slaughtered by the Badtjalas who speared her husband in front of her. Let's be honest... Thy name is "Fraser Island" christened in James Fraser's own blood on the sand. Do not forget!

I'm not to fussed it's just a name and I don't mind K'gari which variations of seems to have been used in the earlier days. The double names we have for many location Ayers Rock or Uluru, Olgas = Kata Tjuta it's just a name.

@@AlloffroadAu I agree, but many have a huge problem to explain the fact that is there for all to see, if you care to look! How can they so suddenly "remember" any geological place-name over an area that just "happens" to be the exact same area as the modern civilized and well documented name like Fraser Island, when they have no record and memory about it? Look, they do not have any memory of their language! Nobody speak or understand or worry about their primitive para-language any more because all words and all place names (if any?) are forgotten. Remember, what makes an Italian? Guess what, Italians speak, sing and eat Italian and so on! Today "we are one" and that is a good thing. A very common mistake is to transfer your cultural expectations on other people that may claim local "knowledge" but there is none, and it never was. You really think they had "Christened" or "given" names? This is really about the "Black Emu" style falsifying and rewriting of true history in the old familiar social Marxist P.C. way, and it will never stop until our heritage is completely obliterated. Then we will all suffer! Capish? See here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJetyJekYrCwhMY.html

yea I see it different, I'm not going on about historic authenticity, the indigenous community lost a lot with white mans arrival (like indigenous communities in many parts of the world) if the name changes make them feel better no issue with me as long as we have access and it belongs to all of us.

Truth is that they have no record and other memory about it. Look, they do not have any memory or use of their language, nobody speaks or understand their primitive paralanguage anymore. All words and all place names (if any?) are forgotten. Remember, what makes a Chinese? Chinese speak, sing, and read Mandarin and so on! Today "we are one" and that is a good thing. A much too common mistake is to transfer your own cultural expectations on to the "pop-up" people that may claim local "knowledge" but in truth there is none, and it never was.
