    I find it utterly incredible that Schubert composed THIS beast when he was only 13 years old. So much of a genius.

    13 years old! We already feel the style of his well known chamber music.

    This early work of Schubert reveals a gifted young man's ability to express sweetness and even pathos. He must have been a very sensitive child as is demonstrated in the opening few bars where a plaintive melody has a childlike innocence and yet the minor key suggests depth of feeling more adult in nature.This is indeed a refreshing foretaste of the vast array of musical settings yet to come.

    I wasn't suggesting it was time wasted; perhaps my time with the other composers is what caused me to finally appreciate Schubert; it seems the older I become, my appreciation widens and I realize what I've missed in the past..

    This is due to small changes in speed, what is typical for vinyl recordings (notice the vinyl distortion" sound in the very beginning of audiofile). The belt controlling the velocity tend to loose with the time, hence the speed and pitch go somewhat high.

  • @NoMoreMrNiceGuyNYC

    @NoMoreMrNiceGuyNYC

    "Immature" in a musical context merely means that it is one of a composer's earliest works- one that does not yet exhibit the unique style and musical vocabulary we have come to associate him with. It needn't take away from your enjoyment of the quartet. Schubert would likely be gratified you find it powerful and amazing.
