I don't wanna comment on her competency for being HRD minister. But I really wanna praise her for her communication skills both in Hindi and English. She speaks really nice and influence listener. She doesn't seems to be higher secondary grad and speaks much better than a post graduate politicians.

Smriti Irani resembles an armor which withstands all attacks and criticism. I liked the way she braved the moronic and monotonous questions of Arnab Goswami. Mr. Goswami, is RSS a banned organization, that you have so much problems with it? Is Mr. Dinanath Batra a convict, that you are tacitly asking Smriti Irani to shun him. Smriti Irani is a Superhit both in acting and politics.

We need to question them and keep them alert in order to derive best service from them. People like you and me, in fact over 90% of the population, do not have a medium or privilege to question the politicians in this manner. So, we have to support the media which is representing the common man, especially the middle class person like me.

***** Yes brother. Our country needs growth and development, badly. It is an inevitable duty as a citizen of India to encourage the politicians/people who are making efforts to our growth and development. There is not an iota of contention in that argument. For this growth and development, we need well-qualified, dignified, honest, matured people in power who can take path-breaking decisions quickly for the welfare of all rather than just for one section of society. We should not encourage any govt where the power is highly centralized under one person, and who lacks the aforesaid qualities. Nothing would change on ground, until we change our mindset and elect right people. 10 months have passed since this govt. came into power. I feel that the 'ache din' came only to the people in the govt. and, it had not extended to the common citizen yet. Especially the middle class and the below section are still waiting eagerly for their 'ache din'. Now, it seems to be a mirage. I request you to look at the ground realities rather than superficial rhetoric statements of politicians before you conclude that he/she is helping this country grow. Thanks !

***** Sorry for addressing you incorrectly ! I'm happy to see your reply. However, I partially agree to your point that we need to give time to see the improvement and development that we want. Just to have a constructive debate, I made the following points: To counter your argument that enhancing relations and increasing foreign tours would create jobs, I would say, it will not. The reason being that until and unless the basic conditions are improved at domestic level, no investor will come and invest here. For example, check out the condition of road connectivity in India. Moreover, investors do not merely come on the basis of friendship or foreign visits because investments come with certain expectation of return based on several exogenous factors such as aggregate demand, cash flows etc. Therefore, your argument would have been valid. even partially, had our country been developed and advanced like Germany or, promising and conducive like China. It is a bit disheartening to see your comment which is oblivious to the tremendous contribution that 130-year-old Congress Party had made to the development of India. Green revolution, Liberalization, MNREGA, Telecom revolution, Aadhaar, Mid-day meals are some of the significant achievements of this Party. Unfortunately, the tolerable zone of the Party is so large, unlike communal parties, that it led to its own debacle. However, I do agree that the current Congress party has lost its sheen and need new blood leadership badly, to revive its ideology. I want to brief you about ache din: zero crime, declining income inequality, social security, employment opportunities as per the qualification, clean and cheap public transport, education and healthcare, price stability in essential commodities essentially food items et cetera. I hope you are not lost with this reading, and can see yourself and measure the ache din on these attributes. Finally, I request you again, not to succumb to the superficial rhetoric of the political statements by blindly following the links that you have given in your comment, and contend yourself that everything is going fine. Look through the end, and meanwhile, try to quantify the development by looking at the changes in the human development indicators. Thanks!

Mrinal Rai I am convinced with the answers and can understand her views. This has never been an interivew, but, a monolog initially, whereby Mr. Arnab trying to prove his point. As it continues, the platform become a place for debate and such a platform can be progressed/concluded with facts to facts and point to points which led this interview all together to the end. But I expected the interview to be more future oriented to understand the plans and actions. However these are my views and I respect your views as a citizen of India.

Great answered by smriti Irani.. Arnab body language shows he totally banged.. The way Smriti speaks, she could be the next face of BJP after Narendra Modi.. One thing i noticed during her interview was that she is not giving her opinion for some issues highlighted by Arnab.. I think she doesn't want to create any controversies with RSS by giving opinion and Arnab is fail to getting opinion from her..

She's witty and she's got Thick skin

Smriti Irani was very articulate, honest and extremely intelligent. Arnab Goswami tried his best to yank her chain but she never lost her composure. To Ms. Irani's credit this interview proves a simple but very powerful life lesson. If you are honest to your job and have facts on your side your defense is impregnable. The occasional tough and often rhetorical questions from Arnab was met with hard facts that completely deflated the prejudiced and preconceived premise in Mr. Goswami's questions. Prime Minister Modi must be commended for inducting Ms.Irani in his cabinet despite the rhetoric with regards to her lack of credentials. Just proves that a piece of paper with a university degree printed on it is not the only yardstick to measure caliber. India need strong, unapologetic leaders who places the interest and development of the country ahead of personal gains. The young educated voters of India can no longer be taken for granted and the country under the current leadership is headed on the right path, free from the shackles of monarchy style governance that pillaged the country during the last 60+ years.

This interview is more like the one with Rahul Gandhi except there was role reversal this time with Arnab playing the role of RaGa lol !!

Bravo Smriti - Really proud of you mam the way you took questions from Arnab and answer each of them factually and Arnab @ the end has to accept that you did it well... My only question to Arnab - if possible, try and do some research on our education system that is place post independence... The said so called "Secular" system of education was designed by Macole who was sent by British Parliament by passing a resolution (copy of the same is available online) that systematically break the back bone of Indian's rich heritage and cultural history by tampering with factual historical info and design history in such a way where Indian doesnt feel good about their history... Why in today's education we do not have similar history highlighting true heros of india - if u go to Japan or US or England.. their history has all positive and something where citizens take pride upon... but Indian history (that too only some 300 yrs old) has all the in-fights that took place after Invaders came into India.. but none are showing history that has 10000 yrs of rich heritage ... and if some one tries to.. then they are labeled as communal?

Smriti Irani was too direct and straight as an arrow during the interview, while Arnab unsuccessfully kept trying to mingle up one instance with the other. Her boss calls her his sister and she values it so much, which was great to hear at the end. A minister doesn't essentially require to be highly educated to run a good ministry, rather intentions and convictions matter. Policies are after all made by the bureaucrats who are highly educated anyways. An educated but failed education minister during the UPA's rule proves the point that education does not equal wisdom and intelligence.

Mayank Kumar I sense that it has become a habit of economically privileged people to simply make comments on others, without a purpose. Anything without a purpose is a garbage !! No offense brother ! I request you to force/direct your critic attitude towards the right people so that less-privileged section like me, the middle-class, will be benefited too from the policies of the govt. After all, this would help reduce the inequality in the society and, you too would serve the purpose. Mayank Kumar My point is simple. Don't discourage the media which is a sole platform and a big opportunity for us to question the people in power. I agree that media is not a non-profit organization. But this statement cannot be made the reason for directing our criticism towards their action, because, our lives are impacted and dictated by the policies taken by the govt. So, if we discourage the media, which is trying hard to make the People in Power understand that the whole nation is watching them closely, with purposeless comments, we will be the ultimate losers.

Arnab interviews Digvijay Singh and everyone calls him a BJP spokesman. Arnab interviews Smriti Irani, and people think he needs to go back to NDTV. Just let him do his job, he's supposed to ask tough questions.

Well irrespective of the fray of questions, the one thing that I cannot stop appreciating about both of them is their body language and the art of keeping their point with a straight face and cool tempers. Their wittiness should serve this interview as a benchmark class not only for wannabe journalists and politicians , but for anyone who wants to reap the benefits of their experience of being "in the field " for years on serving and taking attacks and counterattacks.
