    Yep I do NOT watch TV other than news and documentaries, rarely stuff outside of that. Malcolm in the Middle rates right up there with That 70s Show and THE show when I was in my teens, Miami Vice. Frankie sounds well balanced and like he is a decent person. Good for him.

    Frankie's description of old memories being hard to distinguish reality from dreams is, I think one of the most self aware things that a person can say. There are so many problems caused by people acting as if their memories were perfect imprints of reality

  • @rh840

    @rh840

    To add onto David's comment, when you remember some shit that happened you're really only referring to the last time you tried to remember it, and your brain doesn't actually recount the actual event. Idk if this works for traumatic experiences, but seems plausible to me. (I'm not an expert, honestly I'm just some dumbass repeating shit smart people told me once, like doctors and eggheads of the like).

    All love to you friend, but Malcom in the Middle is not "underrated." From Wikipedia: The show received widespread critical acclaim from critics and proved a popular draw for the network. It has been placed on several lists of the greatest TV and sitcom series of all time.[1][2] It won a Peabody Award, seven Emmy Awards, one Grammy Award and seven Golden Globe nominations.

    @@budderbear hey friend. i’ve dealt with two people with dementia, and i have short term memory loss myself. i suggest doing tons of research and reading up on how to talk to someone with whatever you suspect your dad has, because most people don’t and in turn they end up commonly guilting the person by accident cuz they get so easily frustrated. never show your frustration, be really patient but don’t treat him like a baby, talk to him like normal. memory exercises are great! and if he ever does start remembering stuff but it seems like he’s not acting right, memory regression is super real for people with these conditions. my grandparents who had dementia would be normal one moment but then they’d suddenly be 10 yrs old again. if this ever happens to him, just go with it, entertain it and view it as a great opportunity to learn more about him because i actually learned some insane war stories from my grandpa when he would slip like that, stuff he never told me before the dementia and it was all true. however don’t yell or try to force him to come out of it, that scares these patients and hurts their psyche a lot. these instances will pass, but don’t be upset if he confuses you with someone else, if he does he’s probably regressing and in that timeline you likely weren’t grown, so he’s trying to match a face with a name from back then. everything will be okay in the end, i promise 🫶 sorry for the long comment but i really needed to hear all this when i was starting to go through this with family and then myself. i cannot emphasize memory exercises enough though lol

    Well, it does sound like he remembers much less than the average person. But that might simply make sense, considering he was pretty young at the time and his mind couldn't afford to remember most of it. It needed to focus on being a kid. Now, in my case, I remember almost nothing of my entire life, not even things from just a year ago. So that might be something bad that could turn into a degenerative disease, or maybe it already is. It's possible that Frankie has something like that too, if he can't remember a lot of what happens in his adult life.

Get in a car and go 145 150 mph for the first time in your life in a safeish inviroment and then tell me that was not the best drug you ever had in your life. Shit even going 60 in a funny car on a dirt track is one of the absolute best times ever!!!

I didn’t want to bother him so I just waved and he smiled, seems like a super chill dude 😊 also unrelated to any medical problems, it’s normal for most people not to have super clear memory of their childhood. Mines super spotty and I don’t have medical issues. Probably him going and doing so much as a kid made it harder for him to remember too

    We all know people like on the show or have people in our own families like on the show. That's why it was such a big hit it nailed the average family relatable aspect perfect. We don't need supermodel women and action hero type men on a show to want to watch it. Just like with Rosanne when the characters are relatable it often is more successful show over star power and good looks. Malcom in the middle cast were mostly no name actors before the show.
