FRANKFURT: Not Just a Stopover

Frankfurt has the busiest airport in Germany, so it's often the place people land when traveling to Europe from overseas. And yet, #Frankfurt is often overlooked by travelers in favor of other destinations.
Today, our videographer Petra will show you that Frankfurt is not just a stopover destination and is indeed worth your time. #JayWayGermany

True, Frankfurt deserves better as it’s often labeled. If you take the entire area ("Rhein-Main Gebiet") into account it gets even better as it contains the Taunus-, Odenwald-, Spessart mountains, cities like Bad Homburg, Wiesbaden, Mainz, … the famous river trips down the Rhine etc pp Have a nice trip 🙃

As Frankfurt/Main is famous for its fairs around the year (btw, since centuries. Even its town hall, the Römer (nicknamed "the Roman"), was a trading facility build by Italian merchants), therefore it could become quite challenging to get a hotel room - *BUT* , bc the public transport is amazing you could even find a nice, and often cheaper place outside of Frankfurt. So, booking quite early in advance helps a lot. The real deal, and probably a "last resort", are youth hostels all over Germany, so in Frankfurt/Main too (AFAIK, it’s located at the river bench opposite of the Altstadt, next to the Museums-Ufer). Have a nice trip 🥸

Hi there! Frankfurt is a very cosmopolitan city where many nationalities meet so you should have no problem getting by with just English. Especially around tourism-related activities (the ones showcased in this video, for example). We would obviously always encourage booking your trip to Frankfurt, or Europe in general, with JayWay Travel :) as we will take all the hassle out of the planning, booking and even on-the-ground traveling. More information here: jaywaytravel.com/germany/frankfurt Happy traveling!

BRUTALIST??? Technisches Rathaus was a lot, especially asbestos-ridden, but BRUTALIST is a label that is incredibly offensive!! Just because it was functionalist and didn’t please the tourists‘ eyes (and those of the people who would prefer to live under a kaiser…) like the pseudo-historicist fairytale-romantic, dysfunctional and insanely expensive kitsch they‘ve built in its place, that didn’t make the building „brutalist“!!! 😡

brutalist does sounds like a bad thing. i was puzzled when i learned about this for the first time. “brutalism” is an architecture aesthetic terms, and man some of the brutalist buildings are the most amazing buildings i have seen
