Ike was my guitar teacher for awhile and I used to love hearing all his stories from being on the road with Frank...this riff was also one of the first things he ever taught me.

Frank had such serious balls when he played the guitar. Most other guitarists were just dabbling- Zappa made them sound like they were in nursery school and he had a PhD.

If you don't appreciate, now I didn't say like or become a fan of, but appreciate Zappa, you know absolutely nothing about music. He and his band was light years ahead of other rock bands of the day, but not only that, his compositions were often more challenging than what most formally trained musicians played--classical, jazz, and the like. Dig that, kiddies.

Chances are, dude not gon see that comment since he left it seven years ago, laddie! It is a great comment however. Frank wrote such complicated music, he had to find players good enough to PLAY what he wrote, because otherwise he had no idea how it sounded. Not tryna piggyback ole boy up there, but Frank was truly ahead of his time, and will truly štand the test of time.

Every time I hear a different recording of this song my entire mind is blown over & over again. I don't know why I've connected so much to this song but it's honestly just one of the most relatable things I've ever heard sonically & lyrically. The changes to the words & lines he emphasizes every time, it feels like he's telling us exactly what parts of the song he was feeling during those moments. The May 8th Mudd Club 1980 version has got to be my favorite so far, he clearly wants to get the fuck out of that sweaty venue, yet still performs such a masterpiece of a song. Maybe I'm crazy & I know there's hundreds of Frank songs I could be this attached to instead, but this is like my own personal Zappa-written theme song.

Grateful for u and Zappa family's persistence and awesome achievements in preserving legacy of Frank. When you were able to get us thru 'Waternelon in Easter Hay' with you on tour, tore out hearts, stomped those suckers flat, and renewed.❤ Favorite Frank spoken quotable: "Disco music makes it possible for there to be disco entertainment centers, so that boring, mellow, laid-back kinds of people can meet each other and reproduce." (Or close to that, anyway). This from the composer of the best song with its 'very own disco clothes,' "Dancin' Fool"!!

One day I came home miserable after a breakup and I was fumbling with my keys at the door and then I hear a voice from inside "It's open Dan", I'm like who the fuck is that inside my house and how do they know my name? I look through the glass door to see IKE FUCKING WILLIS SITTING ON MY COUCH. The door was open and I went inside, turns out he was playing a show with my friends (We Used to Cut the Grass they're bad ass (the bass player is from Thank You Scientist and Karmic Juggernaut) and the Drummer (my roommate) gave Ike the couch for the week. It was awesome, my only regret is not recording every single second of it. He was such a cool guy, literally the perfect couch guest. We fed him brownies for an entire week and then had him back a year later. This time it was in an new improved house and they did another week of shows. Luckily we got some of the show on tape but I still regret not getting his stories on tape too.

Credo che l'abbia ascoltato anche lui e gli ha fatto molto bene. "Senza deviazioni dalla norma, il progresso non è possibile" diceva Frank
