Frank Zappa was a truly gifted comedian and musician and I always had so much fun when I went to see him.

After seeing tons of Zappa interviews, this is probably my favorite. Frank is very engaging here. You can tell he has a good rapport with the interviewer (who appears delighted with his answers) and which further seems to inspire Frank to be even more engaging. Love it.

Wow, Frank having a GOOD interview is rare! Usually you can feel the contempt he has for the interviewer.

Good point man! This is a great interview. Frank respects him to a degree, making a fantastic interview. Damn, I miss Frank and well always miss him, but at least we have a great and vast of recorded music that is here for all to enjoy.

Really nice man. We met him in, um, 1968, saw his performance. Long story short, we danced with him while the Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes played.

And when Frank mentions Spain, Portugal and Brazil, it's 1973. Far-right military dictatorships...so different from our "democracies," right? It can't happen here...

But he always had a plan. I give him that, now that 35 years later I realize how good he was and a lot of his music. Was playing Overnight Sensation and much of Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar the last week, all great stuff. Early on it seemed to me Zappa had a real 'tude and I wrote him off for years as an effete crank, but these days i can appreciate Frank and the Mothers. Their satire and comedy etc. comes through. It sounds though like Zappa was an uncompromising figure, and he had a lot of years of troubles with record companies and managers, etc.
