Since nobody's mentioned it the backing vocals on this album and the Overnight Sensation album were provided by an uncredited Linda Sims, Debbie Wilson and Tina Turner (the Ikettes) both albums were recorded at Ike Turner's Bolic sound studio. All music was written out by Frank except for his guitar solos which were always improvised and never played the same way twice.

Besides being a guitarist and songwriter, Frank is also formally the band leader, in that he is writing all of these parts and he asks his band members to perform a specific requested way. The result is pure genius.

Very nice reaction Mr. Philiminizzy! Since you liked this song and it seems like you can handle the complexity of Mr. Zappa’s compositional skils, you might wanna try THE ADVENTURES OF GREGGERY PECCARY. it’s a 20 minutes kind of philisophically, absurd and witty ”mini opera” about different TRENDS that spread out through the land ”using all the means sience have made available”. Looking forward to more Zappa reactions.

I love watching first time Zappa reactors. Phillip I’m thrilled at how much you enjoyed this. Whoever requested it gave you the perfect introduction to Zappa. I loved watching you facial expressions as you tried to make sense of what you were hearing. Seems to me you’re a great candidate to be a Zappa fan. I really hope you do more, a lot more Zappa. Your world will be better for it, trust me. Great reaction!

Frank is not afraid of using classic, jazz fusion, and many other styles. One in particular that comes through is doo-wop, which is the backing vocal style at the beginning of this song. Frank was a big fan of doo-wop amongst so many different styles he could command as a composer.

For what it's worth "suite" is pronounced like "sweet" (French word!) Some useless info - the Yellow Snow Suite (which was "evolved" through live performances/soundchecks, in 1973 and 1974, and then revived/reworked for the 1978-79 tours) contains some overlapping musical material with its "sibling song", Rollo, which appears on the Little Dots album (in its entirety - there are also edits/snippets on some other albums). The main co-stars on this version are Ruth Underwood (percussion instruments) and George Duke (keyboards/backing vocals).

It starts as a dream sequence.. first words, 'I dreamed I was an Eskimo'. The suite contains a distortion some real life events within the theme.. just like a real dream. Frank's dreams have the best music!

@@tixximmi1 Quad started in '71 and Apostrophe came out in '74. Does your statement make sense? The very first sentence on the release, from Wiki: *Apostrophe (') is the sixth solo album and eighteenth in total by Frank Zappa, released in March 1974 in both stereo and quadraphonic formats.* So, ummm. Yes, it was released in quad.
