Zappa is so fun, oddly beautiful and spiritual, especially to hearing such a high quality ensemble to play his stuff

Frank Zappa, the 20th century version of all the great's before him and thanks to people like Dweezil Zappa and ensembles like this his music and life are well preserved... Thanks to all who keep his music alive, RIP Maestro.

One day Frank walked into rehearsal and handed Terry some sheet music and said : "what do you think about this Bozzio?" the rest is history.

    F. Zappa opened the gate to let me into the world of contemporary classical music. (Which took me further into early classical music too.) I will always be grateful for that. Like no one else he kombined this music with rock'n roll and pop music.

Same me. Frank opened the door to a new universe of music for me. I listen to some classical music, contemporary classical and so on. I am no expert tho. Frank played part of Petrushka by Stravinsky. It is a ballet which is to be seen on KZread. It is a fantastic ballet about 35 minutes long. Stravinsky was a master in epic music in which you can sense the influence on Frank.

@@nikolausgerszewski2086 well, but I think there is a difference between being an educated musciian in the US in the early 70s and being an educated musician in the new millenium in GERMANY! their approach towards "rock" musicians and composers is rather deprecating., and they'd perform stuff like that quite professionally, but without the heart and guts required. but there are exceptions of course.

@@zeuhltube if they perform beethoven without heart and guts, it is just as boring, as most classical performances are. only the exceptional musicians are interesting anyway...

@@zeuhltubeI think this performance is a perfect example of the hole in classical musician's abilities. This is a drummers song. Any Zappa fan knows, this is a song where the drummer gets center stage. Notice when he plays the strict parts of pt.1, he does fine. However, in pt. 2, where he is supposed to cut loose, he is lost. He can read what's on the page well enogh but, don't ask him to actually play his instrument.

Parasta Frankkiä -Kulttuuritalolla sain nauttia tästä uskomattomasta taiteest 1970-luvulla roudarina - en mennyt lämpiöön - oli pakko kuunnella kaikki alusta loppuun - loppu tuli toki vasta aamuyöllä, kun olimme saaneet roudattua kaikki soittowärmeet ja PA-kamat rekkoihin - unohtumattomia keikkoja olivat ja sitten tuli vielä eräs Herra Captain Beefheart Helsinkiin (mutta se on toinen tarina) - ja aina Eki-setäkin paikalla kaikilla keikoilla...

@@EnsembleMusikfabrik I have no idea about the logistical and financial details required to pull this performance together, but the Ensemble is tight and a second, better recording either taking a post eq pre-fade submix from the house audio console or doing a multi Track recording to a DAW would be so worth it. The musicianship and orchestration is first rate. I'm not surprised that the drum kit isn't as radical as the Terry Bozio kit, but spreading the percussion among several musicians, to my ears was very accurate.
