I'm American and I think that the Australian version of Thank God Your Here is 100 times funnier than the American version. This sketch alone proves it. Australia, can you please teach my country how to be funny.

You have half the recipe: cope with having been a penal colony and dumping ground for Europe's unwanted peasantry and persecuted minorities .. by fetishizing the underdog, rebellion against authority, wit over wealth, and indulge the paradox of holding strangers at arms length with politeness and being inclusive of friends with bluntness and rudeness. The second half you missed out on. We never grew a justified ego. Our swagger is ironic or apologetic or faux-delusional - arrogant Aussies are laughed AT not laughed WITH. Probably that comes from the social and political history .. independence through war rather than being granted it by the motherland, and massive systematic enslavement for profit (Australia's slave were mostly white convicts: the colony builders)

Before I read the comment let me guess. Read the first few lines and anytime an American prefaces with am an Americans it’s in order to complement others while being overly self deprecating. Americans need to be on their own side more. I mean it’s fine to complement others but we always insult ourselves. We don’t need to insult ourselves british people and Canadians have that covered. I mean Australians are a lot better than those groups over all or usually less bigoted towards Americans. It’s worse when it’s an American groveling to complement a group that hates them like British people and Canadians. Then it’s sad to watch.

Calm down please. Not just now. In all situations. Think clearly and from another point of view from time to time. I'd prefer not to listen to those things as I don't really find them funny. Both spellings are okay and mean a fairly similar thing. Just beacuse I don't like most of what AH does doesn't mean I don't laugh. You may want to think about some life changes at some point. You probably don't realise how bad it is acting like you do so, I forgive you.
