Jon presents a one-man show ''Frank Story'' telling the true story behind the new acclaimed fictionalized movie co-written by him and starring Michael Fassbender and Maggie Gyllenhaal. This is a tribute to outsider artists too wonderfully strange to ever make it in the mainstream.

I am profoundly grateful to Jon Stewart for introducing me to Jon Ronson. He’s funny and smart and honest. I’ve inhaled just about every book of his.
Jon Ronson is a fantastic storyteller. Just extraordinary
I'm the bloke who uploaded the TX footage (shame no-one ever gets around, including Being Frank, to the magical point where Unwinese is synthesised into Sidebottom-isms)... and funnily enough I also once spent an hour in the company of one Edward Barton! He came in to Moonraker Studios in Stockport (whilst my band were taking a dinner break) to copy over a DAT tape... we stayed and listened to the whole thing and by the end we were laughing so hard. 'Everybody thinks we're weird because we have a beard' became a band fave from then on. The even weirder thing was that at that moment he was in the charts with 'It's Gonna Be a Fine Day'. Lovely people.
Frank is by far one of my favourite films ever made
Brilliant story and brilliant film.
The revelation about being marginal really resonates, I had never thought of it in those terms, especially artistically, but actually that sense of clarity it offers is very helpful. Thanks to Make for hosting and publishing this talk.
Frank will still make people laugh even though he's gone You know he will He really will
I regularly watch liveleak videos, and nothings brought me to my knees like this. An amazing story!!
this story- what a nice way to start a Sunday afternoon
Fuck, that image of Frank after chemotherapy is one of the most haunting images I've ever seen and I never want to see it again.

I personally think its amazing. He was still doing what he loved and had a sense of humour to the end. It is tragic though aswell, so a bit of a metaphor.
I have just waiting for the Being Frank me book to be delivered. Look forward to it 😊
So sweet x
After seeing the Chris Sievey documentary . It makes the Ronson fictional film FRANK a lot clearer
R.I.P. Frank Sidebottom. Oh Yes.
Jon’s Ronson’s style is very much like Hunter S Thomas style. but very polite. A true Gonzo-Welshman.

@@misschristie8416 You know it is, it really is.
The artistic choice to go with an avant-garde audio guy, not constrained by the mainstream need to get rid of feedback was a bold one. The marginalization of video guys brave enough to not bring up the presenter's first slide is something I will never understand.
In the photo of Frank and Jon, Jon looks like Tim Roth.
we need more frank sidebottoms.
This is really fckn sad
czech republic :D yay
Typical audience of unresponsive university types who don't know what Jon's talking about, living in the margins? All or nothing adventures on the M6? I bet they wouldn't even know what a hitch hiker was. Some kind of tech start up? .
Wow so this is the guy who took off his mask

Not quite. This guy played keys for him and went on to co-write the film 'Frank'.
Interesting anecdotes and all, but I do feel that Jon Ronson is kind of exploiting and profiting off Frank's/Chris' death.

Ronson is absolutely minted. His books are outstanding. He loved Chris, this is his tribute.
Frank Sidebottom: spectacularly unfunny - I always thought you had to be northern to really understand his childish comedy act.

Oh dear; being from the south you were waiting instead for the umpteenth repeat of 80s Only Fools episodes, full of Del Boy making 'hilarious' jokes about "nooftahs" and "pooftahs" and "plonkers"

@@CA-ee1et I think you've confused the south with London which as we all know is a separate entity altogether.I wasn't aware Only fools and horses was "hilarious" either - a mystery for both of us.

@@revol148 I'm from the south and always found Frank hilarious, tbh mate it might just be better off admitting that you're a sour faced git looking to spoil others fun (I mean why else would you be here rubbishing something that people loved and enjoyed?). No bugger asked for you opinion that's for certain.
