Frank Stella: Return to The Glass House

In the spring of 2009, the artist Frank Stella returned to the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Ct. This short film follows Stella as he reminisces about Johnson, Stella's own work, and the architecture at the Glass House.

    ​@@mulemule I don't think... our cities are full of glass.. residential and commercial. Very few broken windows in comparison to the stones available.

    When Philip first announced that he was donating his house I went to visit it but Philiup was still living there so he kindly asked me to leave which I did.

    Did you mean to say bull or bizarre ? I think bull is more accurate . It is a work of art but generally works of art are not livable and do not satisfy human needs ( except for the aesthetic ) in any real sense.

    @Tempo Nelson Cook outside. That's what I do because I bought a 1984 custom built recently BUT the builder failed to vent outside above stove. Nothing is perfect, & love the house. So, anything involving frying like a steak or pork chops I take it next door into the separate bldg where I keep electric skillet... "workshop".

    I love the peace and serenity of the space. As for the sculpture gallery, the building was much more interesting than the sculpture. I think Frank Stella's design drifts too far into Post-Modernism for me though.

    My friend Nicki Constantine once visited the glass house with her mom and dad. She told me that it was made of plastic. That true? She also, said she saw some guy piss there.
