THANK YOU! I feel like I'm 9 years old again! I never thought I'd see or hear this campaign song again. The Senator from Massachussetts owed a lot of his votes to Frank Sinatra & the sense of excitement he raised in voters. For me, loving or hating President Kennedy or Frank Sinatra, for that matter, has nothing to do with the memories this classic Campaign "Jingle" brings back !

Kennedy’s older brother Joe was meant to be president his dad kept motivating him to become president he was intelligent and had the best grades but died in a piloting accident in the 2nd world war. His sister had a disability and underwent a surgery to try and fix it unfortunately it went wrong and she went to a special home where they would take care of her until her death. Kennedy’s dad had a hear attack but survived unfortunately he was paralysed for the rest of his life. JFK had 4 children 2 died prematurely Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas kennedys youngest brother Edward was in a plane crash that broke his back but he survived. Kennedy’s other brother was shot and killed while running for president. Kennedy’s other sister died of pneumonia. The last Kennedy survivor Edward got into a crash and his car went into the river he got out but not his girlfriend. Later Edward died of cancer. Jfks son died in a aviation accident in 1999. Sad times.

Joe Kennedy was piloting one of the remote-controlled bombers (B-24 I think). The way they worked was that they took off and got up to altitude over England and point the plane towards the target then bailed out while still over England and the plane would carry on with no one on board, they could carry more explosives that way. There was a fault in the detonation mechanism and the plane blew up while Joe was still on it.

Even though JFKs sister Patricia was married to Peter Lawford, many in the party including some say even Bobby felt that Jack's association with Lawford and the "Rat Pack" was an unhealthy alliance as it conjured up too many images of the mafia. JFK would stay at Lawford's house in Palm Springs when in town, they even built a helicopter landing pad. It was felt by many that they needed to end the "relationship" and they did. Sinatra was infuriated and Lawford was devastated. Many hard feelings after that.

I always loved Frank Sanatra's song "He Has High Hopes"! I was still too young to vote when John Kennedy was running for President. I would have voted for him if I could, and I was so happy when Kennedy won the election! And so devastated when he was assasinated!

@cporgie That's an excellent example of modern day political parties on both sides. This is a nice message showing that it didn't used to be that way; Especially in the 1950s and 1960s.
