I really like what he said about how much he enjoys good singers in (metal) bands. Because, to me it seems many people nowadays assume metal has to be with screaming and growling, so everyone and their mothers are doing it. But no, I absolutely prefer it like this, too.

I was thinking the exact thought. The extreme vocal sort of tainted the term ' metal ' music that has turned a lot of music fans away before they hear any new ' metal ' music.

It is always hard for me, as a metalhead, thinking there are people who don't see Lovebites in this way. He nailed the metal scene regarding vocals, just plain nailed it. Enjoyable reaction.

I think those who feel that way can't get beyond the fact that they're females. Typical chauvinistic attitude of some metalheads who think women can't play and should just be groupies. The metalheads who think that way are most likely envious they can't play the way Lovebites does.

His comments are right on. I like screams and growls when used appropriately. This idea sone metal fans that dis on clean vocals are full of shit. Great metal singers like Halford, Dickinson and Dio never used harsh vocals. They are all clearly on the Mount Rushmore of metal vocals.

Let the night go deeper than now ! You see ? You see ? Scream until you break and rip out your heart Forget about everything that is just in your way Stand and deliver 'cause nothing's satisfying Stand and deliver and shoot'em down Stand and deliver 'cause nothing's satisfying Stand and deliver and shoot'em down This is it, take all in your hand This is it, take all in your hand You ready ? I love that Frank could recognize that Asami is a really strong singer. I agree that too many vocalists in metal bands today only go for the growls and typically lack melody. Frank was spot on with that. Great reaction again Joel and thanks for promoting Lovebites.

As someone who grew up listening to metal bands before the Cookie Monster era, when I discovered LOVEBITES I hadn’t heard anything like the music I loved for 20 years. So I was shocked when some reactors thought it weird that Asami-san didn’t growl. Sorry, but that is not ever going to happen and I for one am very happy with that. When someone moves around as much as he did during the video you already know he’s going to give a positive reaction…but he gets LOVEBITES from this one video alone because it shows them as they actually are. I can imagine they aren’t far off being this goofy every time they get together.

I think that was a good song to show Frank, even though it is atypical of LOVEBITES. The problem with LOVEBITES is they have so many amazing songs, including several legitimate masterpieces, it's hard to choose the "right" song to show someone. I just hope some of your guests check out the bands they're introduced to on this channel, and becomes fans themselves.

Can't agree more to Franks assessment of Lovebites. Part of what endeared me to them, was the fact that they consciously broke with the image of Metal bands, looking as they were part of an S/M-convention. I also had quite a long phase away from Metal, because of the neglect of harmony and melody, especially in singing - too much howling and growling hurting my ears. Lovebites presents an optical and tonal aesthetics, without compromising the hardness of their music. That suits me just fine.

As your subscriber count grows, getting to all the requested reactions is impossible. But as a lover of quality music and astounding musicianship, let me provide a recommendation that is a bit different, if for nothing else than for you to check out for your personal consumption. Not metal. Not even rock, but rather a funk/jazz fusion. Another all Japanese female band called "The Jazz Avengers" performing a song called "Hunter". It consists of a couple of names you may be familiar with including one of the most well respected drummers on the planet, Senri Kawaguchi, and on bass Juna Serita (aka "The Princess of Funk). If you want to see Senri in more of a rock setting, check her out performing with Rie aka Suzaku in a song called "Breaking the Limit". Rie is a legend all her own. I call her the Japanese Female Jeff Beck. She surrounds herself with the best musicians Japan has to offer. Rie, in all her iterations, and all the musicians she surrounds herself with, opens a whole new rabbit hole of Japanese music you are not currently aware of. You'll find people such as Tamu (Nemophila drummer) in her backing band. It's a constantly rotating collective.
