So why would you then ask why Gaines didn't flash his badge?

    Lyga was caught on tape saying, “If I could shoot a whole car load of them I would.” He was referring to the Gaines incident when he made this statement, unaware that he was being secretly recorded (and why was the person secretly recording him?). This recording caused a significant scandal, ultimately leading to the LAPD pressuring him into retirement. Given this context, anything Lyga says about the incident should be taken with a grain of salt. It's well-documented that Gaines was not perfect and seemed to be on a self-destructive path. However, he was killed by Lyga, whose actions were supported by the LAPD. The justification for the shooting, supposedly over a staring contest, seems dubious. In the first interview of this series, Lyga downplayed his role by claiming he used “verbal Judo” to deescalate the situation. One must wonder if Gaines had killed Lyga, would he have been similarly exonerated on the grounds of self-defense?

  • @gregkading9315

    @gregkading9315

    You are reading into Lyga’s comment with a preconceived idea of what he meant by “them”. He explains “them” was a reference to gangsters, which he believed Gaines was acting like one. There is nothing in Lyga’s work or personal history that supports he had racial bias…in fact, the opposite was discovered. So, only people with their own racial biases would refuse to accept his explanation of what “them” meant. He said it, so he gets to clarify it. Fair enough?

  • @Lelok45

    @Lelok45

    19 күн бұрын

    @@gregkading9315 Not true! You still can't defend his failure to deescalate the situation with Gaines. He claimed he wanted to use "verbal judo," but what police officer in their right mind escalates a situation, especially while in plain clothes? He also mentioned that he had no remorse, even after realizing Gaines was a fellow police officer. So no, he wasn’t referring to gang members; he was clearly referring to Black people. If it was a misunderstanding and he had known Gaines was a cop, he might have expressed regret. But he already knew what he wanted to do when he encountered Gaines. Moreover, why bring up looking like a member of the Aryan Brotherhood when encountering an aggressive Black person? How do you think someone would react in a staring contest under those circumstances? And your argument that I might be biased is hard to understand since I am both white and Black! I recognize that not everything is a racist act, but sometimes if it walks like ducks, quacks like duck, it’s a duck!

Also as someone who is both white and Asian "I recognize that everything (Lyga shooting Gaines) is not a racist act, but sometimes if (Lyga) walks like (racist)s, quacks like (racist), (Lyga)’s a (racist!)" Yep that's this incident in a nutshell, a not racist act committed by a corrupt racist piece of trash against a corrupt (possibly racist) piece of trash. Note that no matter who started it both of them (no matter who you're hearing the story from) escalated it.

    @@gregkading9315yeah right. All those LAPD officers during that time were cowards. None of them would be able to take a one-on-one fight against any OG crip or blood during that era because they would have got their faces busted wide open. And for the record all of that ghetto muscle back in the old days was all malt liquor, fried chicken and anger. No steroids like the soft suburban kids. And it's so funny that now all of it has come back to haunt them. A police officer can't even cuss at someone anymore. I kind of feel bad for them but you know decades of BS comes back to you in the end. Here we are what a day of reckoning.

    Dead men tell no tales. Don't believe this Lyga guy. Many of you already don't trust: Kading; Reggie Wright, Sr and Jr.; Keefe D; Suge and many others from this sordid, rancid saga. But under no circumstances should you believe this guy's story. He was just as lucky he caught Gaines, like Tupac was lucky that those cops carried stolen guns. Lyga's whole shit seems manufactured after the fact and kinda forgiven once they found what Gaines was connected to.

    @@bentheg9793 I agree with your point, which I also hinted at in my initial post. It's troubling how people often conflate the term 'victim mentality' with 'racism,' almost treating them as synonymous. In reality, a racist individual is simply racist, while calling someone a 'victim' implies that they are being overly sensitive. It's like saying, "Let me bully you, and if you complain, you're weak." However, I acknowledge that some people do act like victims without actually experiencing racism. These concepts are not mutually exclusive, but when someone is truly racist, it is pure racism. Lyga's reputation as a racist is well-documented, including testimonies from other white officers in his department. The key takeaway is that Gaines is not here, and Lyga got away with murder. If we were to measure who, as you put it, is considered 'trash' and who would get away with killing another cop, the consensus would likely point to Lyga, given the historical accounts of the LAPD and Lyga’s detailed ‘explanations’ of the incident. It’s doubtful we could say the same if the roles were reversed. The reality is that Gaines’s type of 'trash' did not align with the department's consensus at the time. This is why there is more focus on discrediting Lyga’s testimony rather than scrutinizing both sides equally. In short, there are many like Lyga in the department, but not enough like Gaines. Take a moment to let that sink in.
