Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House: An icon of American architecture

The Frederick C. Robie House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1908-1909, is a cultural and architectural treasure and designated a National Historic Landmark. It is regarded as the pinnacle of the Prairie Style and has been referred to as the twentieth century the greatest work of architecture America has produced. Please note that taking photographs is very difficult in the interior due to the limited time and access I have available on a tour. However, I try my best.

Interesting but not pretty. Harsh and too square. Why we have so many different architectural designs. Everyone likes different stuff.

That is very insightful. One thing is that viewing via video or photographs is vastly different than being in person. In person you may have a slightly different opinion. Nonetheless, thank you for viewing and your valuable critique

I rather like it because it’s literally ‘outside of the box’. Too many houses are just plain boxes IMO

It’s a shame the house is so sparsely furnished. As a visitor attraction it would help ppl visualize the spaces much better were they fully furnished. I still really like it tho

@@catclelland2447 I agree! I am very disappointed that it is devoid of appropriate furniture. Furthermore, the U of Chicago uses it for gatherings etc….in my opinion that is just wrong considering its historical significance
