It's quite possible to do it straight up, especially with some of the more overpowered end-game weapons (Gauss minigun for example) and/or a crit-based build (since crits ignore armor in Fallout 1 and 2, now go for eye shots, once he's blinded feel free to take out the turrets). But the character who can persuade EC company to join in and hack the turrets is probably not the same character who can take on Horrigan directly. Old school RPGs required some actual focus in terms of builds.

@@JJBlitz-sp3bi Wasn't advice, I was agreeing with you that you can indeed just kill him, where Oxhorn seemed to indicate that was almost impossible. It's even possible to kill him AND the turrets, but you'll probably have to drop into inventory to chew on stims every single round.

I personally hacked the turrets and beat the life out of him with my unarmed character build. I went for groin shots to stagger him and the focused on the eyes. He pretty much stood there and took it.

Same, literally the gameplay of these 90's fallout games are the only thing that deter me from playing them. I started with fallout 4 and so I really like the combat and weapon customisation of that. The old games seem to have some sort of heavy rng element to the combat and stats which I don't like but I adore the art style and voice acting in them.

That Frank Horrigan fight is intense, dude was a lot tougher than The Master. But in the end even a US Secret Service member is no match for The Chosen One.

Well in FO2 you can have a way higher level and more and stronger companions plus better armor so actually I would argue that the Master is more difficult to defeat

Shame it ends, love these older games. I might be so bold to suggest Might and Magic ss another nice lore series.

In my headcanon I left Myron in Vault City attended to vault doc. He got kicked out of city for stealing chemicals and drugs and overall terrible behavior and was getting by in city's courtyard before he was kicked out of it too for stealing. He traveled many roads and annoyed many people before ending up in Den and meeting his end from the hand of a jet addict.

I never resist the temptation to do a Shady Sands shuffle on that son before the game ends. He never gets to be stabbed in the Den.

You could feel the excitement and pride of the writers and designers of Fallout 2 at the end of the game. It's like they were so proud to have finally finished this beast of a game, they just wanted everyone to look at all the 4th wall breaks and see them shouting "Hahaha! Look at us!". Love it.

I didnt quite beat the game, I couldn't pass frank hoorigan. Maybe I shouldn't of gotten the original version of the game and instead a bug patch. I went through hell to get to the end with all the bugs but I actually feel satisfied with fallout 2 now

The Enclave is probably bigger than the BoS, I bet it didn't just have 500 people, or 1500 if we say that the MODUS facility in Appalachia housed a thousand soldiers. My head canon is that they have at least 5k, probably hidden in the Enclave Head Bunker (AKA the main Control Vault, where Vault-Tec bosses and Enclave officers hid). In fact, we kill presidents, politicians, not a single general. Most generals and high-ranking officers are probably hidden with lots of units and of course, robots

And the enclave is only on the west because the east should be completely gone a Crater China bombed it over and over.

I love how one of Myron's endings is that his discovery of Jet is quickly forgotten because even Bethesda forgot about it when they put Jet in pre-War safes.

I think you're missing an encounter with Frank Horrigan Oxhorn. Early game if you head South from Arroyo you'll encounter Horrigan and a group of Enclave soldiers. My memory of it is a little hazy but I know they slay somebody in your presence. Then Horrigan addresses you as he and the Enclave soldiers depart. It's the earliest possible appearance of his character and a warning not to keep heading South. For an early character the random encounters in that area will work you over pretty fast.

It hurts that a good Deathclaw ending is impossible to get.

I know this is long past since when you played the series, but I wanted to thank you for doing this. I can remember playing Fallout 2 at my friend's house when I was 13 or so, and it kick-started my love of the Fallout universe and post apocalyptic genre in general. It has been an absolute pleasure taking this ride along with you. There really was nothing like Fallout and Fallout 2...

The death animations are just amazing. The master’s lieutenant and Frank hörig and are amazing, but the critical explosion animations are so good too.

Wow, this has been an epic series.. I'm actually sad now that its finished

I hope you make a video of the canon excerpts that come from these games and give us a better, concise understanding of how you perceive this world.

you are playing as a myth in Fallout series.

Killing Frank is much harder if you used. the restoration mod. But it makes the turrets very strong enough to penetrate a power Armor mark 2. But in original, they do 0 damage for power armor

Fallout 1.5 (aka Fallout Resurrection) story would be quite interesting to watch in this channel, even though it's not canonical!

Thanks for this, Oxhorn! I never got the first two Fallouts, and your series is a grade-A way to experience the old glory everyone talks about and praises. And it's of course worth that praise; so much fascinating content, writing, story. Fallout 2 may be a superior game to 1, but man, I have to say, the finale was a let down. I don't even mind the 'entirely super-evil foes in a morally grey game', that can still be done well. But the Enclave just permitted you to stroll up, walk around, and undo them without a fragrant whiff of resistance. I mean, Caesar's Legion had a lot of their moral complexity cut in the final edition, and they're still a thousand times more interesting. Or forget comparing it to later games; the Master and his Army managed to have more depth despite being evil monsters who wanted to kill and mutate everyone.

So tactics or brotherhood next ?

@@Detroittruckdoctor55 Harold did it. There are enclave bois hiding in DC seperate from the computer president. fallout 2 is in 2241-2242 ish Fallout 4 starts in 2287. Also i am more currious if its may be a little refrence or inspiration.

Bethesda fucked the game by making everything same in the east coast. Like mutants,bottle cap,jet etc. Many of them were special for west coast but bethesda who had no sprinkle of cerativity stole and used the same assets in his game

That's a loong long walk. If we say Piper was in her 20s, that means she was born on 2260s. And you remember that Piper's dad was some city guard in the Commonwealth right?

The idea of a NCR Military Junta is terrifying. If you assume Metzger is still around, NCR would just be The Legion with enclave remnants.

Thank you for this serie, I think it's a really good way of discovering fallout 2 if you're reticent to playing it. Will you tackle the restoration project next ? Most of it is cut content so it might be interesting. Also, did you talk to the first level computer in vault city ? It tells you to see him after you completed the game but writing this comment I realise that there are a lot of other things like the flying car that you need to cover so you'll probably do another episode

Aw man. Fallout 1 and 2 are done now. I wonder if it's even worth going over Tactics since the game is barely canon. I've been enjoying the fart out of this OG Fallout content.

Good stuff. Twenty episodes ago I was inspired to play Fallout 2 so I wouldn’t have to wait on these videos, and boy is that game awesome. Really is the best Fallout, and totally highlights all the way the 3D ones miss the mark. Thanks for tricking me into playing this amazing game, oxhorn!

At 5:48 I can't help but think about that Fallout 4 picture with the power armored character being hidden right next to an enemy.

27:29 As much shit as Fallout 3 gets, Bethesda taking note of this ending and continuing the narrative that he becomes a tree that can easily grow in the waste unlike other greenery felt like a natural evolution that was planned from the beginning.

Interesting that it says Myron's "discovery" of Jet. And not his "invention" of Jet. Almost like it's hinting at that he didn't actually invent it. Meaning it's possible that it was a pre-war chem all along and he only discovered it and learned how to recreate it. Honestly that sounds plausible given his character.

You CAN loot Horrigan’s body but it’s a glitch essentially. You need an EC Company member to be alive, kill him on top of frank and you can take his plasma gun and knife by looting the EC company corpse

I just love Ox's passion for this type of videogames, also his voice is great, a plus for what he's doing.... Ox, when will you make the final chapter of this great history that is Fallout 2? will you do a live playthrough sometime?

This has been such a wonderful journey. Even if the more recent events surrounding this franchise have been less than spectacular (in a good way I mean) I can´t help but love this world and its games. Also there is a chance of their being talking deathclaw npcs in future games if that ending slide is canon. Wonder how many newer fans would be just at a loss if they met one because they were born long after Fallout 2 and never played it.

@@Detroittruckdoctor55 umm... Sounds as if you never played the game yourself, bc. That's bs. There are plenty of NPCs and dialogue, and story. It just isn't in an RPG format like F1 and F2 it still has much more story and content than F4 or F76.

Only FT counts as a fallout game. The other is not even brahmin manure.

I love the series!! I always been such a fan of the fallout lore but I never had the patience or knowledge to play the classic fallouts, thanks for doing this. Have you ever consider to play “Fallout New California”? I know it’s a mod but it’s surprisingly lore friendly and voice acted. Anyhow awesome series!!

Frank horrigan it’s definitely a very memorable final boss He gets foreshadowed as a very big threat for the entire second half of the game and he’s a very intimidating in person
