    it's fascinating, I believe everyone gets a spiritual experience some time in their lives!! I once visited this small Christuan Church and had an supernatural experince with God, it was so overwhelming that I was shaking and trembling and one time I was practicing being Still and this supernatural peace flooded my soul and time stopped and it lasted about 10 minutes!! I'm so thankful for these nudgings from God in my spirit!! The Peace from God is beyond mere words and words can't capture It!!

    I am both Catholic and initiated as a member in a traditional Sufi Order and I can tell you that Franciscanism is essentially “Christian Sufism.” I love learning more about the Path of St. Francis

    I see it as you see it. I am a Christian Mystic. Not a title I chose and grew into by intention. I would say Sufi Mystic and Christian Mystic are the same. I meed a Buddhist at an event one time and as we spoke he told me of his practice and when I said that I was a Christian Mystic his eyes lit and he said very excitedly "Then you know it's all the same." It's awesome to connect with others that way. The down side is the excitement because of our limited numbers around here so when one meets another it's rare. Spirit knows spirit?

    I really love what Richard Rohr says. I have one question though. For me, it was precisely that experience of my undeservedness of God's love given to create me out of nothing, then me living as if I took it for granted, and the subsequent understanding of my unworthiness, that made me feel gratitude for everything. This is what reminds me in dark moments that God is at that moment loving me despite me often being arrogant, angry, etc, which subsequently allows me to take a hold and just be in a difficult situation, to not define myself out of it, to accept that this is the life and the way I'm walking and that I'm not supposed to run to some other place, with other "better" people, etc. This is the one thing I can't really understand, when he critiques so harshly the reminding of our unworthyness in prayer. As I see it, love is that which is given without merit. That which must be merited is not love at all. A parent does not wait until a child is "worthy" before pouring her life into it. It is important to me to realise that God loved us even before we existed, and His love created us. I'm all open for another way of phrasing it, so long as we are reminded of our not having merited it. This is quite important to me where I am now, as it is what enabled me to see love everywhere, and realize how love creates everything, and conquers everything, and all we have to do is see it (which is the hard part). To me reminding myself that I do not deserve it, is exactly what enables me to pass it on to others who do not deserve it either. It is what enables me to see potential everywhere (in those rare good moments of course) instead of failure everywhere.

    This is Richard Rohr. He is a Franciscan Monk and is currently at the Center for Action and Contemplation he founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Look up the Center for Action and Contemplations website for more info. I am a study of his for several years. I found him while researching after some experiences I had as a result of my practice to find that I had become a Christian Mystic. I may start teaching on this channel. Please check back. Would you be interested in that?

    I belong to a Carmelite Secular Order, and I agree with much of what Fr. Richard Rohr says, when I hear that he is "New age" it upsets me; I wonder what that says about me. Veronica OCDS R.I.

    Hello Sister, Yes me too. Those that call Father Rohr "New Age" have only ever been exposed to what I would respectfully call the "Elevator Speech" Christianity. Any one that has approached or practices an experiential faith is able to hear his words.

    It's not difficult to believe Father Rohr speaks from experience upholding his stance in mysticism but only if you share in it also. He rarely disappoints.

    Most fail to realise that Jesus was emphasising the realisation of the Kingdom of God in our midst. The abundant life by letting go (dying) of the self serving ego and living unto Christ (God's image) in us. Be Holy (Wholly) for I AM Holy. Integrity of our humanity and divinity. Seek what St Paul found (Galatians 1/16), and through a gradual transformation by dying on our own cross we become Mose's burning bush. Radient by God's refining fire but not consumed. Blessings to you in your own journey with God.❤

    "Save us, Saviour of the world, for by Your cross and resurrection, you have set us free." If we have been set free, aren't we asking for a gift already given? Begging for salvation (aka eternal life) is talking to a capricious Almighty God way "out there". It's not worship or praise or thanksgiving to our "Abba". No wonder attending Mass has again become a Duty. (JMO)

    Christ is part of the Sufi way. A famous Sufi mystic Ibn Arabi says that Christ may appear to different saints when they die as each soul has a prohhet giving them spiritual light. Basically God looks after us and the prophets look after us, our ego doesn't decide! The Sufis are only concerned about whether one follows God or not, Rumi had followers of all faiths and so did mohammed (pbuh)

    @@ushojedi in my search for God I researched many religions and I studied heavily about Islam and read entire Quran, and I liked Islam and I wanted to b a Muslim so bad but that path just wasn't for me. I tried to make Islam work but I guess God decided that is not the path meant for me. I had a vision and in the vision I saw a blue cross made out of blue lights, and heard Isa Jesus call me by my name. Ever since that vision I keep seeing symbols of blue crosses. I see them in back of cars and on billboards and on Church buildings and I was taking a job and I bend down to tie my shoes and as I bent down I found a necklace and on the necklace was a blue cross. Is this catholic? Im not familiar with it. So when I go to the local parish is this what I'm going to learn?

  • @newtonboyd

    @newtonboyd

    3 жыл бұрын

    The Franciscans are part of the Catholic church though they are considered and "alternative orthodoxy". The local parish is going to stay mainstream or you might say follow the company line. What the Franciscans and Mystics do is teach a more transformational and therefore experiential faith. By deepening practical understanding and application of Christian teaching and experiencing a more tangible experience occurs. >from Google: "The Franciscan order is one of the four great mendicant orders of the church, and its members strive to cultivate the ideals of poverty and charity."
