This sonata was originally composed for oboe and piano - but as we already share a Mozart concerto, several J.S.Bach Sonatas and Telemann Fantasiae, I hope that my oboe colleagues will welcome my version of this beautiful piece of music! (Thank you in advance!)
The piccolo flute's contribution to this piece is clearness, brilliance, elegance and sweet, long melody-playing - all matching the elegant style of Francis Poulenc himself.
The sonata is dedicated to S. Prokofiew, you can hear many allusions on his pieces, e.g. "Romeo & Juliet" or the violin sonata.
