    I think people also need to understand his context, he worked in sand mines, escaped and traversed a desert, made it to France, was homeless lived on the streets, 5 years later was in the UFC, few years later the heavyweight champ, got a multimillion dollar contract with another organization, secured the Fury fight and then performed like that!!!! He’s a generational talent with unlimited drive👏🏽👏🏽

    I agree with Chaels point, I would say Fury got a wake up call and took Francis lightly, because fury got knocked down very early Fury had time to make up some points, Francis was throwing a little careless late and thats what cost him in my opinion. 96-93 however was clearly nonsense.

    @@Roll594 not really, Francis only won 2 rounds boxing wise. In the end neither of them showed me anything other than Francis with good training, and if he was a bit younger, he would probably be top 3 in heavyweight, maybe top 2. What’s embarrassing is that Francis would probably mop the floor with anyone outside of the top 5, and that’s saying alot given all the show these boxing heavyweights make.

    Francis Ngannou is a hero to all MMA fans for what he did. It would have been like Patrick Mahomes going to basketball and playing Lebron James one-on-one and almost beating him. He’s a real-life Rocky. In the original Rocky movie, Rocky loses a close, split decision to Apollo Creed. Rocky lost the fight but gains everybody’s respect just like Francis. Francis loses a close, split decision to Tyson Fury but wins the battle.

    Fury usually uses his size and weight to his advantage to slow the opponent to lean on them, he deliberately grinds a opponent down by using them as a bar to prop him up. Francis not only stopped him from doing that, but he held the centre of the ring and pushed fury back.

  • @southtxguitarist8926

    I explained this to a friend who's a boxing fan and doesn't watch MMA. Boxers are broken up when they get into clinch positions, but in MMA you can punch, elbow, knee, and try for takedowns from the clinch almost indefinitely. They're allowed to it unless the ref determines they're stalling. In other words, MMA fighters, especially at the elite champion level of someone like Ngannou, are just going to be MUCH more experienced at dealing with that position than any boxer.

  • @beany1987

    @beany1987

    @southtxguitarist8926 if you watch fury vs wilder you can see he uses it alot, being a much smaller man that wilder is it must be really tiring having someone that big leaning on your frame from above. Personally I think boxers should be allowed to clinch, but if like fury you are using the other person as a stand, then something needs to be done about. In some fights he uses it way to much and it becomes more of a weapon than his punches in the early rounds.

    One of the biggest problems with boxing is that the rules allow for fighters to hug each other like Tyson Fury constantly does. That last Fury v Wilder fight was almost entirely hugging.

  • @southtxguitarist8926

    @southtxguitarist8926

    7 ай бұрын

    @@ronfroehlich4697 Not exactly. This is from a man (not me) who fought amateur boxing and provided this: Here’s a list of rules You cannot hit below the belt, hold, trip, kick, headbutt, wrestle, bite, spit on, or push your opponent. You cannot hit with your head, shoulder, forearm, or elbow. You cannot hit with an open glove, the inside of the glove, the wrist, the backhand, or the side of the hand. You cannot punch your opponent's back, or the back of his head or neck (rabbit punch), or on the kidneys (kidney punch). You cannot throw a punch while holding on to the ropes to gain leverage. You can't hold your opponent and hit him at the same time, or duck so low that your head is below your opponent's belt line. When the referee breaks you from a clinch, you have to take a full step back; you cannot immediately hit your opponent--that's called "hitting on the break" and is illegal. So while holding and clinching is illegal under the traditional Marquess of Queensberry Rules, it has become an essential part of pugilism in the modern era. ... Most referees allow boxers to fight their way out of a clinch but could intervene if the duration of the clinch becomes too long I would argue that holding should be enforced as a foul. It would make things fairer for shorter fighters (think Mike Tyson) and make the sport more exciting. Either way the rule against holding should be enforced because it is in fact a rule. Either that or holding should be removed from the foul list. If holding was made illegal it would change the game as we know it and for the better in my opinion. Fighters like Mayweather have taken advantage of holding and made it part of their style.

We can say it is onyl if you fight within the boxing lol. But in a real life or situation if Boxer does not hit me first and it would have to be a sucker punch he stands no chance. I have been challenged by many boxers on a fight with no rules and it did not end well. Obviously I was gentle. Boxer does not have a chance even against muai thai pro lol. You got to give Francis his credit, that was remarkable. To respond to Chael's comment "Boxing is not a real sport ", I don't think Boxing has the same level of talent that it use to have. I don't think Francis would have ever beaten Mike Tyson, Evander Holifeild, Lennox Lewis, or Mohammed Ali, if he had fought any of them during their prime (of course not counting a "lucky punch", of course Francis always has a "punchers chance" in any fight, but of course assuming if that "lucky punch" doesn't happen). The only way that scenario might play out differently is if Francis started to train as a boxer at age 12. I think it might have been more of an interesting fight though if Francis had fought Vatali Kilithchko (not Wladimir) during Vatali's prime, but who knows what might have happened if those 2 fought during Vitali's prime, but the first 4 fighters I mentioned (Tyson, Lewis, Holifeild, and Ali) were just on a another level and in a different class, and Boxing just doesn't seem to produce fighters like that anymore, but congratulations to Francis for displaying an excellent athletic performance and accomplishment.

    No way! He didn’t even need to take this fight. Fury didn’t make the decision the judges did. The guy is undefeated he’s a legend this is hyperbole.

    Many of us in the Boxing community have been saying for years that we have NO IDEA how talented this new generation of boxers actually is, because they never proved themselves against the older generation. Mayweather retired undefeated, the Klitchko brothers completely dominated the heavyweight division for years and retired on top of their game. The newer generation of boxers never proved themselves against anybody. They are C level fighters who simply beat each other. Everyone knows Wilder lacks basic Boxing skills and yet he was on top for years. Everyone was calling Errol Spence the next Sugar Ray Leonard until he was completely embarrassed. This new generation of Boxers is utterly subpar, many of us have been saying it for years.

    If every boxer was now a days were Bud Crawford is talent wise Francis would have ran into a Lennox Lewis who I promise you Francis who big ups too him fought well against Fury But Lewis woulda put some shit on that chin. Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight of the weakest worst era therefore sonnen can talk this shit. Just a reminder he tried talking like McGregor did an awesome job against Mayweather it just sounded so bad to people who watched the fight and never gained any traction. Dam bro how bout the biggest fact Francis still had too come fucking box to actually get a real payday but yes American gangster boxing is just a load of shit. And STFU Francis didn't beat up Fury he was much more competitive than most thought it would this dude talking like Francis knocked him out in Rd 1.

    He stayed in the ring for over 10 minutes after the announcement and did multiple interviews and promotion for his next fight. You people sound so ridiculous. Just grasping at anything. Francis lost. He did well but not enough to win. It was either a draw or Fury won. If you know anything about boxing, you couldn't see it any other way. Fury landed 71 of his 223 total punches, while Ngannou managed to score with 59 from 231 attempted. Nagannou landed 37 power punches to Fury's 32. Fury landed more punches in 6 out of 10 rounds, including the last 4. There is no robbery here.
