Unbelievable game....SA's ability to solve the questions posed by France was mightily impressive
A controversial comment about South Africa's quota system: why does every South African team have to have one mandated player - Percy Montgomery, Jean De Viliiers, Faff De Klerk - with flowing golden locks of blonde hair?
First half was probably best 40 mins of rugby ive ever seen. Well done SA, gutted for France. I fear England will get pulverised
A lot of innovation in this match. When Willemse catches the ball and calls the mark and then calls for a scrum was the best!!!
I'm sure it's heartbreaking to go out by one point at home, but the French can hold their heads up high. That was rugby of the highest calibre and truly could have gone either way. That game will echo throughout history as one of the greatest ever played. I know that I speak for all South Africans when I say that the French have earned our respect. Vive la France!
So far the best game. Springboks managed to counterpunch so hard, cuz France was playing so brilliantly, however the impact of the SA bench was indeed phenomenal, closing the match, not to mention that the first 10 min of the 2nd half SA played with 14 players,. 2 am, You should have seen me shouting every time Springboks scored or did a great play, 10 floor buding in the balcony, lol
...this Argie said...what a game !!! ...the intensity!!! ...a new rugby..definitely.
Jeez…I’m spent watching this, and I’m English with no skin in this game. Pollard is a beast and we love him at Welford Road 🐯🐯🐯🏴🏴🏴
Wow the French were strong. I feel for them. But Old man Etsebeth would have been proud of the boys. Love from Cape Town.
Damn… that was an insane game! What an advert! Kolbe charging down that kick though..
England in another World Cup semi final, and all other NH teams out. Feels familiar 🙄
Jesse Kriel was the best player on the pitch. PS du Toit and Mbonambi not far behind.
Jalibert kicking out backwards and Ramos 22m drop kick directly into touch were crucial mistakes which probably cost them.
SA surprised me with some of their calls and decisions - even the way they approach the game is unique - not sure if it’s Rassie or whoever Calling a scrum from a ‘mark’ Quick tap on the line etc 7-1 split, 4 half backs in the bench etc Gotta respect them for being innovative and different , it’s good for the game! as I feel every other team are trying to copy the 2011-2015 NZ team formula which can be boring - Nz Supporter
Well matched quarter finals. I don’t think that the semifinals will be as so closely contested. SA -v- NZ for the final.
Anyone else think that the “injury” replacements enabling SA to get Vermeulen and Du Toit back on to the field after a bit of rest are a bit suspicious?
Hats off for both teams and my nerves and a sigh of relief for my Springboks!
France beat NZ, NZ beat Ireland, Ireland beat SA, SA beat France. Eish, I'm confused.
Well done to the "Hand of Kolbe".It was the Deciding factor. Will go down in History like the Maradona incident if South Africa win the World Cup.South Africa has never lost a final. They don't play finals, they win finals.
The best quarter-final ever in the World Cup. Three tries each in the first half. Then 2nd half best quarter-final ever in the World Cup.
EXCELLENT review THANK YOU‼️
How did we do that? bar the Etsebet incident Arendse had a try - 6 points iso 1 difference would feel more like a win. French chip kicks were extremely effective, They matched our scrum in fact all set pieces. Etsebet incident - please look at the replays - he is very tall his left knee is completely bend- he was as low as possible for that tackle.
Amazing that no one saw the gumgaurd try celebration of Purnaud. French backs struggled to have a go cos they were closed down by Bok centres & others. Unbelievable stats, F scored 3 tries by tight fwards, Boks scored 3 from backs + a fward. Work that one out. Defence is the ultimate in knockout stage. F never expected their points to come from that arena.
great analysis, that first half especially was phenomenal. Thanks.
Best summary of all!! Good man!
Noticed early on the short range rocket high kicks which did nto handle. Somewhat similar liast night with the AB's pooping the chip kicks with a running recovery. Absolute gold.
Willemse called that scrum because right before that there was a scrum where o'keefe gave France a warning (tight head pancaked). Very very astute by willemse. A real tactician as well as a baller
This world cup has the potential to down down as one of the best ever with some of these games. The only thing that holds it back for me is the horrendous crowds. At times I thought I was watching football. After the last world cup where we were spoiled with such respectful Japanese crowds, the attitude from the French crowds actually makes me embarrassed that I have French blood. The amount of booing that is going on quite frankly just disgusts me.

Unfortunately when your country playing Nationalium comes out. It's like a war but without bombs and bullets. And some fan's will boo to help there teams win. Because at the end of day they only remember the winners. ✌️
Unreal. What a game!! Lost 2 years off my life watching that game.
Thanks!
as a neutral I would like to say that as long as there are 99% of Anglo-Saxon referees, rugby will be biased....there is no other sport in the world where it is like that.

Clearly you are not that neutral. 😂
Great summary of an all time great game
Brilliant summation
That missed penalty kick into touch from Jalabert was the turning point of the game. France let then the momentum slip from their hands.
Who would have thought England would be the only European team in the semis
Impressive by the Boks. Commiserations to France. People are talking about a possible RWC curse on Ireland ... but I sometimes wonder something similar about France ... ?
Springboks ajusted real time on the pitch and that was the diffrence
The Etzebeth try wasn't from a scrum . It was a pick&go from a penalty they received from a scrum.
Expecting a cricket score on Saturday.🇿🇦
Question for all in the 2nd half peter steph du toit( i think it was) went off for a hia so vermeulon came on for him during that after having already been subbed for kwagga. But when peter came back from his hia passed they took mbonambi off for him and vermeulon stayed on. I didnt think you were allowed to do that if youve been subbed i thought you could come on for a hia but if the hia was passed you had to leave the field? Am i wrong or did i miss something else going on. Was an amazing game of rugby.
I feel sorry for France get beat and going out of there world cup as an england supporter🏉🏴
Not bold calls. Planned and brilliant calls
Maybe the best game of rugby I've ever seen
Great quick breakdown/review of the game!! Boks vs England here we come. GO BOKKE!!!
Big heart by SA but it was the experience that pulled it thru. Feeling for France but proud of the Boks
Brilliant game but gutted for france....i really had my money on a france ireland final seems i was well wrong on that one lol...SA dealt well with the french flair and france really couldnt deal with the chip kicks...there were some dodgy ref calls if im honest..the scrum instead of a penalty right in front of the posts for knocking the ball out of duponts hands whilst off feet really cost france the game, i suppose you have to play the ref too and france got onto his bad side with so much chatter....fair play south africa gonna take a great tram to beat them...the New zealand south africa final is gonna be massive.
What a game! I never like to focus on refs decisions on the outcome on results but the Kolbe charge down and the Smith hands on the floor holding on penalty were so costly in such a close and hard fought game.
Much closer than the AB’s v Ireland. The game was Won in the super small moments! Eben knockdown. Kolbe charge down. SAF breakdown intensity in the last 10. France lack of highball skills. Crazy game!
Don't think Etzebeth flapped the ball backwards. Looked like a deliberate knock on.
Great analysis- If only DuPont was alittle more humble and self critical. He slammed the ref instead of his flyhalf for kicking backwards . That was unforgivable at this level
I honestly don't know how we won that.
Seems the Boks are pulling a 2019 in that they are saving their best performance for the final.
Honestly. It didnt feel like the boks were going to win this game for a very very long time. We got really lucky to get the rub of the green in the closing seconds. Blood pressure went thru the roof
The penalty charge down by Kolbe that was the decider in the end, never seen that before and France didnt take advanced of the yellow card advantage.
Boks must not take victory over England fro granted... the English have a knack of showing up at this stage of the World Cup... All Blacks should handle Argentina without any surprises.... Boks vs All Blacks will be an epic with how well they both played in the QF.... the other 2 QF had nothing on Pool A & B quarter Finals.
thought the yellow on Eben was harsh yes was on the edge of my seat, my 1000 Au dollar bet on the Boks is safe to keep the trophy Actually I would have not been upset if France had won, they were both great glad Dupont came through
The South Africans showed the benefit of speed out wide! Will SB have taken note and include Arundell in place of May, who is no longer the speedster he was? Somehow I doubt it.
SA and New Zealand they plan this to knock out the group winners 😂
Great analysis France won match not score,France managed to remove shape of match.Colbe massive, start kwagga, handre.
Unbelievable game. Probably the best game I have ever watched. Probably the highest level of sportsmanship I have ever witnessed as well. Thanks so much for the analysis! Would love to hear more about the refs calls and see what mistakes were made there
Who would have thought that England would be the only NH side left
Make no mistake the Springboks beat very good French team. How the hell are England going to beat the Springboks they don't stand a chance. The Springboks forwards will crush England but at least we won't be favorites 🏉🏉🏴🇿🇦😮
France didnt do much in the 2nd half. Gassed out playing Def. Boks have too much depth with there rotation adjustments
England are in a good position to take revenge for '2019 WC final. Boks cannot afford to be complacent.
Smith is way too small at full back. The Boks will flatten him.
TMO there for try decisions and foul play, like Penuad's head clash with PSDT.
the hegemony moved to the north...... Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa......🤔
that was a scam from the ref, seriously, deliberate knock on, elbow in the faces, kolbe running before ramos, so many mistakes from O'keefe and the TMO didn't even moved a finger. if it was a 10 points gap victory, french side would not complain, but there is only a single point difference.

I felt the same but the knock on was a knock backward it seems, I have not seen the replay so can't say for Kolbe. But clearly we should work on high balls to reove this weakness, it was our doom yesterday, as France was really dominant in first half, a 7-10 pts difference was needed, as our bench did not really help especially for scrum
Kolbes conversion charge down won the Boks the game 😂
No shame robbing Froggies yet another time remember the 1995 SF scam?
God help England
Still think we was very lucky, if we play like that against England or New Zealand, we will lose

no, England is not nearly as strong, should be an easy semi final, but anything can happen... NZ vs SA final, i'm gutted, I really hoped this time we would have a new winner, France or Ireland
Hello “rugby analyst “ consider this constructive criticism. Instead of just relaying the events of the game how about spending more time on analysing the actual tactics.
BOKKE !!!!!!!!!!!
All the rats in the comment section upset with the refs decision today when the 50/50s didn't go to the opposition for a change. When the Boks endured this for years, the rats were quiet. Deal with it 😂
Hardly worth watching the Semi's after that.........we all know who's going to be in the Final. The World Cup draw is a joke
Great another SA or NZ title.😅😂
How the game was won ?? Ask the referee and "Sleepy TMO"...
France outplayed.
How they won ? Simple, ask the kiwi who pissed his pants thinking about facing France in Final...
Because the referee was a piece of sheet ?
The best player on this South African team was still the referee!.
How the game was won? Thanks to the anglo-saxon referee. Again.
How was the game won? By a SA player putting his hands on the ground prior to a jackal and then winning a penalty from France holding on. Problem is that's against the laws and should have been a penalty to France that Ramos probably would have kicked putting France 5 ahead. I saw it, the commentators on my TV saw it.... But the TMO apparently didn't? 🤔 weird.

Easy to see it with the bias French tv people. France was clearing out from the side constantly.

That and other things happen in every rugby game and is done by both teams in all of them some refs see it some do not that is not South Africas problem but hey cope more and keep telling yourself that Whining and Ref blaming is only something we do and also the TMO is only there for tries and foul play yes some TMO get more involved then they should and I can also list multiple infringements made by france but lets not go there we will be here all night
